How do we get our story out to a national audience?

I have been thinking lately about how we can reach and attract a national audience when it comes to our revitalizing city. I know we have a long way to go but that aside we have started to make some good progress in the last few years with more optimism growing all the time. I always read stories about Detroit or Columbus or Buffalo etc. on how they are turning things around on sites like CityLab or Planetizen or NextCity so how do we get our story out there? Is it just that their writers like to focus their attention elsewhere or are they just unaware? Do they get stories from those they contract with in those cities or is it all written in their HQ? I just feel there is a total lack of attention to our area in the national media. So how do we start to attract people all across the US to what we are improving here?

Send out a midnight email to a Board?

Make sure you don't include Baltimore.

When you do a $17,000,000 Riverwalk Project that you don't include ONE ADA dedicated handicap Parking space especially next to our Educational Headquarters for all the students of Duval county.

Stay positive. National  attention is coming our way.

It's a long shot, but how about contacting Steve Kroft ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Kroft ). He used to be a reporter for Ch 4, now he's a correspondent for CBS 60 minutes. Maybe he can do a piece on urban revitalization, with a focus on Jax?
