As much as Detroit has been maligned for its failures, it is nice to know that the Motor City is making a comeback after its disastrous declaration of bankruptcy.  One thing that inspires me about Detroit is that it has been working to repurpose older building stock instead of quickly resorting to the wrecking ball - as Jacksonville is so eager to do...

I've been waiting for this. Detroit definitely has a huge pool of amazingly talented people with great grass roots ideas once that kind of thing filters up they will really have quite the downtown on there hands.

As a side note the EPA just released an interesting report on how to encourage infill development in distressed communities. Sounds like the exact thing we need for downtown and some of the core neighborhoods.
