I had the pleasure to try out the new Jimmy Hula's that has opened at the corner of Atlantic & Hodges (*behind Burger King*) in what used to be a Blockbuster Video Store.

Jimmy Hula's are also operating in 7 other locations around Florida.

The theme & decor is very much "California Surfing" and is based on a character of Jimmy Hula, a surfer who traveled the world.

The menu is focused for the most part on their fish tacos, burgers and a variety of unique beers.

The menu can be found here:

The group I came with tried various choices.

- Kahuna Burgers
- Malibu Fish Tacos
- Big Island Fish Tacos

and we also tried the Mojo Fries.

The group agreed that the Mojo Fries were unique in taste with the lime, salt & pepper and while the sweet sauce that came with them was not something great, the fries themselves tasted wonderful. The lime adds a great overall flavor mix with the potato.

The Big Island Tacos also got raves for its unique taste. The Malibu Fish Taco was good but felt they skimped on the guacamole a little much and considered asking for an extra side to make up for it.

They serve beers from a few breweries.

- Kona Brewing
- Southern Tier
- Sweet Water

It is a counter order, bring to the table service.  Outdoor eating is available, but not very expansive yet. Live Music is periodically performed.

If it is within your area it is definitely worth a try (for the unique tastes). I would consider it a complimentary food choice in Jacksonville.
