Comcast Rate Hikes

Comcast has been announcing rate hikes in different national markets this week. Unclear if & when this will hit the Jacksonville market.

The hikes include a $3 hike on broadband, a $2 hike on the cost to rent an HD DVR, and a several dollar hike on the company's "Broadcast TV" fee, which lets the cable operator jack up service costs while leaving advertised rates the same.

Too bad the "free market" loving Bush Federal Communications Commission exempted cable Internet companies from laws that force telecommunications providers to open their lines to competition back in 2002.

12 years now and Obama supporters still blindly blame Bush...as if there were a difference between the 2. It might be time for Obama to take some blame on things, don't you agree?

More on topic, comcast has to make up for the cord-cutters some how.

It makes no sense to me that we don't force companies to share infrastructure with competitors instead of owning the lines outright.  After all these years of watching how well competition works in countries that force sharing we still refuse to change the rules.

AT&T just lowered my broadband bill by $5 per month. Pretty weird.

+1!   Clear, formerly Clearwire, is getting out of the wireless internet business in this area in the next month or so.  They didn't have high speed, but were a great alternative for people who just wanted telephone and email service, not Netflix.
