Anna Lopez Brosche

Kimberly Daniels

At Large Group one race for council has not ended yet, much to the agony of voters and onlookers.  This district provided more than its share of mind bending and boggling in 2011 due to the presence of two individuals in that race.  One of them a prostitute, junkie turned preacher and demon buster offered up by democrats and the other a sketchy republican lawyer with a dubious past including an arrest for assault.  In a push and shove race back then, the people of Jacksonville were saddled with "Demon Buster" self proclaimed "pastor and prophet of the saints" and an attorney with a record and history of reprimands. Ah Duval, you are nothing if not entertaining. :)

Fast forward to a week ago when incumbent Pastor Kimberly "Demon Buster" Daniels (D) and the same attorney from the 2011 contest David Taylor (R) were back as candidates, joined by two more candidates.  One a classy republican woman named Anna Lopez Brosch and another a well liked democrat named Terry Reed.  When the elections results were tallied we learned that of the votes cast that day by 185,395 individuals, 177,428 people actually voted in this race.  That means that 7,967 voters did not cast a vote in this race.  Hmmm.   Now comes the scary part (in my opinion) which is that 62,688 voters, majority likely democrats, decided that we should have Kimberly Daniels here and in office again.  Kinda makes me shiver.  Stack that up to 44,284 votes from mostly republicans that thought a attorney with an unhealthy record was the go to guy.  More and more shivers when one considers that in this race there was also a stellar, accomplished and classy candidate in the person of Anna Lopez Brosch who received 52,421 votes from Republicans and moderate supporters.  That's 8,137 votes above Taylor.  What's up with that Jacksonville?  Rounding all of this out was Terry Reed democrat with 18,035 votes.

By now everyone knows that the runoff race for this seat will feature Pastor and voice of the saints Kimberly Daniels, democrat and business woman and pubic servant Anna Lopez Brosche.  How will it all turn out?

Consider these numbers.  If you combine the total most likely Dem votes gotten by Daniels and Reed you have 80,723 votes which is 45.49%.  If you combine the most likely Republican votes from Brosche and Taylor you have 96,705 votes which is a percentage of 54.5% a spread of 9.01% in favor of Brosche.  However when one considers that 7,967 votes were left uncast in this race that both candidates need to court, the numbers get tighter.  The Brosche camp will need to remind voters not only of her exceptional experience and personal record but also of the fact that Daniels has missed about one third of regular and committee meetings.  Simply put she likes to hold the position but doesn't care to put in the time.  Daniels for her part will likely entertain us with some more glossy ads and a full page in Times Union with a big old photo.  Whether she will be climbing through a picture frame or slapping a demon out of a parishioner photo op for the piece remains to be seen.  :)

The other oddity about candidate Daniels is that she has received serious financial backing from republican Peter Rummell and his wife. Ms Rummell being a hard core evangelical and believer in Daniels.  This oddity only overshadowed by the presence of funding from Shad Khan which many believe is a measure of his support of Daniels.  The truth is more likely this.  Daniels is the mother of two former NFL players both with Superbowl rings.  I think Khans support was because of the family association to football.

I cannot find a list of the results of the election.
The closest I could find was the election maps (which didn't look so good, maybe I'm reading them wrong) Can anyone give me the numbers? Should I be worried? Did any or our canidates win straight up? Thanks to anyone that can enlighten me.

It's this article that really caught my eye.

Kimberly Daniels has been on City Council for 4 years.  The article stated Shad Khan allowed her to lead a "prayer' group for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

I still question the reason Shad Khan and Peter Rummell gave thousands to her, and in the almost undercovered way possible.  I do NOT think it's because they fear the "gay agenda" or believe what she says at all.

Kimberly Daniels is a giant voice and vote on issues concerning Jacksonville, FL.  These two men need a "giant voice and vote on issues" on City Council, as both need City Council votes on million or billion dollar projects the coming year and 3.

They spent about $40,000. on contributions to her "PAC" or whatever.  Surely, a 40 K investment to gain a sure vote is worth it for each one.  Just a drop in the bucket for these guys.  Again, buying votes on City Council in Jacksonville has been been difficult.  I think her support from these two is more about needing her vote than agreeing with any of her "demon-busters" thoughts, or anti LGBT ideas.   >:(

Yes there were some who won straight up the last cycle.  I am going to go district by district with the results and talk about who is left for the run offs.  I have already posted the results for the mayors race, sheriffs race and group one.  Will post the other run off group districts today.  In the mean time you can view the results yourself by clicking this link:  http://enr.electionsfl.org/DUV/Summary/1251

Daniels is a cult leader nothing more who has wormed her way into the mainstream of evangelical "nutters" who use religion as a disguise for their bigotry and lust for power, control of others and money.  Her demon buster mentality is more than a funny oddity, it is a dangerous thing for Jacksonville.  Remember, this is the woman who still is into real "witch hunts".  Clearly not all people who fall into the category of evangelical are off the rails and I respect their right to their opinions and religious views, but a woman like Daniels in any leadership position is very concerning to our national image and to the members of a community that she hates in a visceral way, which is the GLBT folks.  For a person who sold her own damn body and abused drugs to now claim to be someone who can measure the lives of others frankly disgusts me.  Her goal is to impose and empower those who share her mindset through her position as a self proclaimed voice of the saints and member of city council.  She recently shared her warped dream about putting on her uniform/battle gear as it was to fight in her position as council woman.  This is not what representing all the people of Jacksonville equally and without prejudice is about, not even close.  People should also be worried about the "relationship" between Daniels and Reggie Brown who has re-won his seat on council.  You may recall he was the one that she was talking to on the phone during that flare up between herself and another woman pastor at a polling site.  Let's just say they are "close", perhaps too close for folks sitting on the council who will be deciding on a variety of issues which by the way are not supposed to be discussed out of the sunshine.  Of all the races facing our city this is one where people need to put their attention to and efforts behind the competent opponent to oust her.  The good news is that there is a stellar, accomplished and rational woman in this race opposing her in the person of Anna Lopez Brosche.  She is the person who should be in the seat of Group 1 Council at large.

She is a voice for some and that is a dadgum scary thing.  She is also loud in her hatred towards the GLBT community and in her efforts to impose her religious zeal and beliefs on all of Jacksonville.  Think about this.  She actually believes she is on a mission from God and as such her opinions and ideas are those of the saints.  That's just nuts!  She is a big voice in a bad way.  Rummells involvement and that of Khan has to do with the pull that Daniels has on the evangelical community, especially the black community as well as the whites who hold her beliefs. It also has to do with her son's roll in the NFL which is her door to Khan.  She is desperate for attention to the point of being easily manipulated by the powerful with agenda's.  For the big dog's it is about finding a voice and foothold in areas of the community that would normally not be on their radar, save for Rummell whose wife is a true believer in Daniels and her message.  It's a dangerous form of fanaticism.
