Pseudo-Conservatives and Left-wingers alike will argue with you until they're blue in the face that there is no such thing as Al Qaeda or that they are not a threat to us in any manner (9/11 never happened!!!).

In any case, we appear to have turned the tide on this imaginary enemy.  Good news from GWB's top CIA guy.

(from the Washington Post no less!!)

The U.N. said much of the same yesterday.  I fall in the Iraq has been too costly camp but if we can stabilize that country before we leave that would be a good thing.

The entire article only provided one gain that was actually measurable.

QuoteSince the start of the year, he said, al-Qaeda's global leadership has lost three senior officers, including two who succumbed "to violence," an apparent reference to Predator strikes that killed terrorist leaders Abu Laith al-Libi and Abu Sulayman al-Jazairi in Pakistan.

I do not blame anyone for being skeptical about these type of claims but Al-Qaeda isn't going to let a census be taken.  I thought that the U.N. echoing the statements of the CIA added to my feeling that real progress is being made.(I am referring to a statement from the U.N. I heard on the radio is why no link posted)
