Incumbent Greg Anderson (R) is working to keep his At Large Group 4 seat with a single challenger which is a woman named Juantia Powell Williams (D).  As mentioned in his own bio Greg has good experience with city government.
QuoteAs Chair of Finance he led the committee through one of the most challenging budgets ever facing our community.

He currently serves as Chair of the Finance Committee and is a member of the Transportation, Energy, and Utilities Committee. Greg was also appointed to the Mayor's Pension Task Force.

He is clearly up to speed with regard to the very serious issues of budget and pension.  Whether or not folks agree with his actions in those positions will become clear when the votes are counted.  But he does get a "+" when it comes to actual experience with important city issues. He also is a member on the Transportation committee and I will leave it up to other Metrojacksonville posters who are more current on those issues to say whether or not they feel he has hit the right notes there.

His challenger Juanita has nothing in her resume that points to her having experience that supports her being a better choice for this seat
than Greg other than the HRO legislation which Ms. Williams has not said that she will support.  While it might be nice to have another woman on the council, related experience and knowledge counts and that is missing in the case of  Ms. Williams.

NOTE:  All registered voters will be able to cast a vote in this race

Greg will have my vote.  He is the most qualified candidate and he voted for the HRO purely in support of civil rights.

Councilman Anderson definitely gets my vote.

But... Juanita Powell-Williams is a good choice as well, at least on the issue I care most about.  She believes so strongly about equality that she attended many City Commission meetings in Atlantic Beach and spoke passionately in support.  She told us that she was shocked, upon moving to a metropolitan city like Jacksonville, to learn we still lacked these basic protections.
