It is really important that voters in our city know who the people asking for our votes are.  It is even more important when it comes to Council At Large seats because "every registered voter" gets to vote on these individuals.  Kimberly Daniels is one of those persons.  Daniels, incumbent, holds the Group One At Large Seat on the Jacksonville City Council and want's to keep her legislative job.  Ms. Daniels is one of the most colorful characters to ever hold this position.  A woman who is a former prostitute and drug user, which she freely admits, is also the Pastor of a local church here and in south Florida which she says she was called to minister by the Lord.  She is also anti-Gay because the are sinners, anti-Muslim, which was clear enough during her interactions with Dr. Ahmed of the Human Rights Commission and a woman who says that "Jews" own everything.  She also sees demons and devils in every nook and corner of the world and our city.  She was featured as a pastor on a National Geographic program (video on Youtube) Taboos "Devils & Demons" and other weird stuff, which shared footage of her "exorcising" demons out of folks on the alter of her church, which doesn't have a cross because according to Daniels a cross can be a demonic symbol much like the Egyptian Ankh.  These demon possessed followers were supposedly freed of these devils while Daniels fierce demands that they be gone were chanted over them.  This led to the gyrations and contortions of those she was ministering to and while snot ran down their faces she worked her "demon buster magic" and claimed they were free. Her time in office has not come without scandal but that should be of no surprise.  As a city legislator she tried to have a local historic structure given over to a "Confederate War Veteran's" group instead of an arrangement with an arts group.  That effort failed.  On the flip side in one of her more positive actions she stood against the destruction of some older homes in the are of Springfield.  I guess the question is whether on not the positive she has done in this area outweighs all the other strange and bigoted views she holds dear.  To me that answer is a resounding no.  However it is up to everyone to make their personal choices.  To see her in action click this link.  I promise you will be more a more informed voter after watching.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35xouuMFE7E

David Taylor

There are two individuals who are challenging Daniels for her seat.  Some may remember the first one because he ran against Daniels in the last election.  His name is David Taylor and he is also his own kind of special.  Taylor is an attorney who has seen more than his share of controversy.
QuoteTaylor was asked repeatedly about Bar investigations that involved his billing as a court-appointed attorney, his conduct in a divorce case, and a potential forgery of a judge's signature on an eviction document. In October 2011, Taylor pleaded guilty to engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation related to the divorce case and was suspended from practicing law for 30 dayshttp://jacksonville.com/opinion/blog/403455/christopher-hong/2015-01-08/david-taylor-files-make-another-run-city-council.

After losing to Daniels last elections cycle, Taylor was arrested on charges he threatened a tenant with a hammer.
Quote
City Council candidate David Taylor has been charged with waving a hammer and threatening a tenant at a rental property he owns.

Taylor, 39, who lost election to the council last year and whose license to practice law has been suspended by the state Supreme Court, was arrested Monday after a woman who lives at the house and other witnesses said he raised the hammer and threatened her daughter.

Felecia Daniels said Taylor told her daughter, "I'll knock your — — head off,' " while the 16-year-old was playing in the backyard with her sister and some dogs.

Taylor later made a second similar threat and raised a hammer in the girl's direction, according to an arrest report.

Taylor told police the girls were "very belligerent" while he was doing some carpentry work at the West 18th Street house he owns and rents to Daniels. http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2012-01-11/story/former-jacksonville-council-candidate-arrested

Anna Lopez Broche

The other individual who is challenging Daniels for her council seat is a lovely woman by the name of Anna Lopez Broche.  I did my normal investigative work and plenty of research on Ms.Broche and she appears to be a stellar individual.  I found nothing negative about her anywhere and frankly that is excellent news for Jacksonville.  I am going to put her bio below and will share that she is the person who will be getting my vote in the upcoming election.  For those whose concern is the salvation of historic properties and to stop the continued demolition of old homes that are not derelict I would suggest that they contact Ms. Broche and ask her directly about her thoughts on the issue and would suggest that supporters of the HRO do the same.  However with the HRO issue we already no there is no way Daniels would ever support that legislation.  Don't worry about Taylor's views.  He is not going anywhere in the campaign.  A true "non starter" for Jacksonville.

QuoteAnna Lopez Brosche

Does she support the HRO Jimmy?  I have not asked her about that.

I think Broche's TV ads will help her a lot, especially if Daniels has none.

Jimmy

Yes, Diane.  I couldn't support any candidate not in favor of the HRO.

Cheshire Cat

Good news Jimmy and extra good to have another Republican go on the record in support of it.  :)

Broche is one of the strongest candidates in any of the races. She's exactly the kind of person we need tackling the city's mismanaged budget.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?
