The Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk and another 10.38 acres around it on the Southbank riverfront are under contract to a buyer, owners' representatives confirmed Tuesday.
The representatives would not disclose the buyer or its plans. The hotel and surrounding property are separately owned.

The Wyndham property sale could be completed by March.

"New capital and new investment will be coming with this transaction, which is going to very good for the hotel in the community," said Richard Lillis, executive vice president of Colliers International in Miami and a hotel specialist.

"I think the community is going to be thrilled," he said.

300 slip marina?
Two new brand new floating docks on the Southbank and one vendor?
Does anybody care? Scott Wilson, Don Redman feel free to jump in here.
Remember Shipyards and a 150 slip marina and not one slip for the Public

This deal has the potential to reshape the Southbank area.  Let's hope that the deal goes through and the land is developed.

Very exciting! Especially if they did do a 300 slip marina. Most cities don't have that option.
First thing that needs to be done would be a SERIOUS rehab of the Wyndham. That place isn't fit to be a super 8,let alone a Wyndham downtown at the river walk.

I have not been there in a few years but I was not impressed either.

Yeah if you look at Vantage's hotel brands, most of them do not look like anything to rave about for such a visible spot. :(

That sucks, we still have a long way to go in some regards.

The Wyndham property is horrible. The property is way too spread out for being so close to our urban core. And it has not been well upkept. Too bad the hotel won't be torn down and replaced with a more fitting building for the area.

So this includes the property that was previously the Wharfs?
That are has such potential.

Has anyone confirmed what the plans are upon purchase?
