Another great tour. Love the picture of McCoys Creek 1929 is on the concrete curvature. And brackets now cross the creek to prevent the bulkhead from collapsing. It still says Visit Jacksonville!

So sad to see all the history that has been demolished, and then hear people today still say that "downtown should be torn down and started over" or that we should raze buildings first and then come up with a plan.

5,000,000 studies! A dozen plans! Bulldozers! Cleared for rebuild! Puff of smoke and it's all gone! Dozens of empty lots downtown! History of the city in the dump! (And in some salvage yards!)  Jacksonville progress! Has been going on for years! Nice tour though.

I think it was off of Philips somewhere - in the 80's.  I seem to remember 8ft. privacy fences.  Dad's car was always spotless!

Funny, this was about the same time that the hot dog girls in thongs were on Blanding in front of the original Home Depot.

If I remember correctly, up until the time Warren Colazzo built Fantasy World, Topless dancing was legal. He wanted nude dancing and in an effort to restrict this new enterprise, the city banned nude or topless dancing if liquor was served. This was known as the " Adult Entertainment Code" and I think is still in existence today. This was also around the time that Doll House, the former J.R.'s now Sinsations, and The New Solid Gold became nude and no longer served Alcohol. I can't remember which street it was on but Fantasy World was built on the Southwest Corner of the Arlington Expressway and either Cesery or Arlington Rd.
