I don't know if FEC locos, 425 & 436 will be down at the Talleyrand Spur, but it would be cool if they came around and blew their horns when the race starts at Metro Park.

Florida East Coast sponsors 2014 Komen North Florida Race for the Cure

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida East Coast Railway is sponsoring the Susan G. Komen North Florida 20th Race for the Cure. The event will be held Oct. 18 at Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville. Participants can run, walk, or jog on either a 2K or 5K course.

"We are pleased to be a part of this important event. Our sponsorship is in honor of our employees, customers, suppliers and the communities we serve who continue to fight for a cure to breast cancer," says FEC President and CEO Jim Hertwig.

"I am elated that Florida East Coast Railway is returning for their second year as our Race for the Cure naming sponsor," says Delores Wise, executive director of Susan G. Komen North Florida. "Together, FEC and Komen North Florida are addressing the fear, the fight and the cure of breast cancer."

The company's support for cancer awareness is also reflected by two FEC locomotives, Nos. 425 and 436, which have a special paint scheme that includes the pink ribbon symbol associated with the national Komen organization. The locomotives were placed into service last September.

"Every day and in every location where we operate these locomotives, FEC is keeping the need to find a cure for breast cancer visible and top of mind," said Hertwig.
