I passed this new 7-Eleven on Colonial in Orlando yesterday. Hopefully, the day of better gas station design has arrived and will be here to stay.

QuoteThe City of Orlando required that 7-Eleven build its new gas station/convenience store at Colonial Drive and Fern Creek in accordance with "traditional city" zoning criteria.  Doors open to the sidewalks.  The building sits on the corner, creating architectural definition.  And, yes, most motorists are smart enough to figure out where to find the gas pumps.  This layout should be standard for corner gas station/convenience stores.

Moreover, this gas station is probably being built mainly to serve I-95 exits and on-ramps that will soon be opening up.  Though the surrounding neighborhoods won't mind either.

The ramp up of higher end Daily's and Gate stations is in anticipation of Wawa entering the market.  It's only a matter of time, so Daily's and Gate are building stores that will be able to compete with what Wawa has to offer.

Even the new Gate stores are nowhere close to Wawa....the only advantage they have here (and its a big one) is their name.

I meant to mention this last night. I passed by them after leaving Aardwolf around 9:30p.

They are giving away a bunch of free stuff over the next week.  They are also giving 50% off their made to order sandwiches.
