Pretty impressive, especially when you consider how self-deprecating locals tend to be with surveys such as this. Definitely a sign that a lot of positive momentum has been made in the last two years. Hope we can continue to ride the wave and don't allow pennies to stand in the way of dollars.

Jacksonville residents believe parking, safety and activities in Downtown are better than they were two years ago, according to a recent survey by the Downtown Marketing Collaborative.

Based on the results, the DMC found that the 2014 survey showed an improvement in the number of people who would recommend Downtown to their friends and family, the perception of safety and the accessibility of Downtown parking.

Forty-forty percent of respondents said they would recommend Downtown to friends and family, while 39 percent of respondents think that Downtown is safe -- a 17 percent increase from 2012. The largest number of respondents (24 percent) were in the age groups of 31-40, and reported a household income of $100,000-plus.

The survey also found that only 40 percent of respondents think Downtown parking is "easy" -- less than half, but a 21 percentage point increase from 2012.

Excellent. Positive. I know my perception has improved a lot in the last year or two. I think DT is turning a corner and will be a go-to or live-in alternative for families and singles before long.
