Busy Council. Good they hammered a lot of this stuff out. They do pull some hours sometimes.

A mediocre budget equals a medicore city..so it lokks like none of the mayors plans got approved.

Good for them. If the mayor really wanted the project approved he should have identified real funding for them, without gutting services.

he did...it was called borrowing, which is pretty common for capital improvements....Council just didn't agree with the idea.

Many times you hear politicians say:  "Would you run your household this way", but I don't know ONE person who did not take a loan out on both their house and car.  Personally, If we did not borrow, pretty much nobody would own a house or a car.... the same could be said about school loans etc.

^They already had to dip into reserves to avoid Brown's proposed service cuts. Borrowing a bunch of money on top of service cuts is bad juju.

At least not a junker ;)
I don't know anyone willing to put down 20 or 30 grand in cash for a car.  I do own my car, but payed it off over a few years.  Had to take on managed dept for a while.

That being said, I think the public safety issue trumps all else in my opinion.  The problem is when I see money going to stupid crap and not to something like this.  I am sure there is tons of money going into infrastructure to support low density sprawl in Richard Clark's district.  As a resident in the urban core, I am willing to pay more taxes to help fund projects like this.  This kind of project would build a forward momentum in this city and I think it is worth the momentum.

Didn't say I care much for Brown.  I think his heart is in the right place, but all else... ???  I did vote for him, but he lost me long ago.
I used to be one of those people who always voted and told others to vote, but since I have been in Florida, I am wishing the ballots had a 'none of the above' category.
