Interesting article about a project to map the relative merit of different modes.  Even in cities with reasonably decent transit, biking and driving remain a better option.

I'd take the analysis with a big lump of salt.  For example, it maps single trips from one node to another. I also don't believe it considers weather.  (Do you want to ride a bike during a snowstorm? Would you take a bike or a car on a trip to the Costco off New York Avenue in Washington?)
