It is interesting that no fingerprints, no murder weapon, and an unclear motive gets you a conviction.  I bet this sucker winds up a case study in law school in the future.

I believe even the prosecution said "this case is based entirely on circumstantial evidence"....

I guess enough circumstantial evidence can be built for the average human to believe something 'beyond all reasonable doubt'...

I'd bet public perception and media played a huge part in the average jurors subconscious.
