I wonder if Jacksonville ever thinks about new studies or educational programs to be added to the University or Colleges here.

Take into consideration the new port, global warming, st johns river health and disputes etc etc etc.......
- studies voor dredging
- studies for environment
- studies for biotechnology
- port and logistics studies

Do we have to import all that knowlegde?

I'd like to see the local universities and colleges more involved, that's for sure.  Seems like UF gets more press around here than our own schools!

This is something that I believe Delaney is trying to build over at UNF.  JU will never be the big research institution - there goal is to be a smaller, private school, and those tend to not focus on research.

I think UNF needs to develop a Master of Urban and Regional Planning program.  Currently, there are programs located at UF, FSU and FAU.  USF is currently developing a program as well, and UCF calls for one in their master plan.  I think it would be a great fit, because Jacksonville is located in one of the most heavily regulated states in the nation from a growth management perspective.
