Not unlike recent years, 2013 brought significant changes to Jacksonville's dining scene.
But unlike recent years, a lot of those changes centered on local, independent restaurants, especially in the latter half of the year when several notable restaurants opened their doors.

Among those are Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails and M Shack, two recent additions to the St. Johns Town Center. The focal point of the city's restaurant growth in previous years, the sprawling Southside retail center remained relatively quiet.

Instead, restaurant growth — and the number of planned projects — in Jacksonville's other suburbs picked up in 2013, especially on the city's Northside and in northern St. Johns and Clay counties, as the local economy showed improvement...............
