He's "a Christian" and loves how much Tebow talks about/exposes his religion. This isn't about football to Arnette. It's about religion.

Then why wasn't he an avid backer of David Garrard, and why isn't he an avid fan of Tyson Alualu?

I'm a Christian and my passes wobble less than Tebow's do.  He might as well advocate for me to start.

Seems he is violating the law regarding separation of religion and sports. Oh.  Never mind.

Football is a religion to some people.

Who is this guy? A PGA golf pro? The guy doesn't even have a wiki page. I cannot wait until the expiration day of that dumb billboard signage in the State St/Mathews Bridge Expressway area; Talk about something that make us look like a hicktown. Thanks alot Dewey for this embarrassing effort that continues to fall on deaf ears. SMDH....

Worse is the string of Camping World "bring Tebow to Jacksonville" billboards on 95.  Everyone entering the state gets to see those.

The guy lives in San Marco and commutes daily 7 months a year to Vero Beach where he has an apartment and this is someone whom is believed to be logical and sensible? Wowsers, and to think people think I'm nuts for flying to NYC for Monday through Thursday. Maybe I should change to daily flights, shorter commute than him an imagine the air miles I could rack up! Not to mention all the "wisdom" points I could score.
Proud supporter of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

I just wish Mr Dewey did not think he speaks for all the citizens of Jacksonville which he sorta implies in this ad. A bit arrogant. Sounds like a tea party nut job to me. Not to mention never heard this pro before this.

From everything I have read, the elder Dewey isn't a citizen of Jacksonville. And his son sounds like some sort of wannabe football handicapper.

The article was wrong. He is a citizen of Jacksonville. San Marco to be specific. He's also the guy funding the fly-overs with the Tebow flags...funding the organization efforts. Anything you see something Tebow oriented, he's probably funded it.

He's "a Christian" and loves how much Tebow talks about/exposes his religion. This isn't about football to Arnette. It's about religion.

If he cared so much about Tebow and his religion, maybe he'd be better off spending that money on typhoon relief for the Phillipines.

Or on any other number of worthy projects rather than an ineffectual billboard, flyovers, and print ads.

Did he also bankroll those awesome rallies that drew audiences of 25 media members and 6 members of the public?

Yes, these are the kind of enduring fans that Dewey wants us to attract.  From the T-U Facebook page:

"Until the Jags get Tebow I refuse to buy a ticket, get a tee shirt, buy a sticker, or say one good thing about the Jags. GET TEBOW AND I WILL SUPPORT but until then screw the Jags."

I don't know what you all expect

Knowing the guy, this doesn't surprise me at all. The only surprising thing is that everyone here is surprised!

We all knew this was going on. Now we just know whose funding it.

I'm continuously surprised that these people worship one athlete only while completely ignoring the Christian athletes who are actually playing and doing good in the community.  I constantly run into Tebow cultists who announce that there are no Christians or good role models on the Jaguars.  Certainly other than a few isolated examples like the Brad Meester story with Luke Akerstrom, the T-U has made no effort to cover Jaguar players doing good but has fallen all over itself to praise Tebow's every move.

You know the man; in your estimation, does he have the slightest awareness of the positive role models and men of faith who play or have played for the Jaguars?  Or the slightest self-awareness that he's not exactly setting the greatest Christian example in spending thousands of dollars on a frivolous, navel-gazing PR campaign?
