The opposition was vocal on Thursday night — 60 people protesting a zoning exception that would allow a shuttered Baymeadows Road Burger King to become the Paradise show bar with bikini-clad dancing women and alcohol sales.
But the Paradise also faced explicit opposition from the city's Planning Department, which recommended it be denied because it failed to meet several criteria, including not fitting in with the "family-focused" businesses in the area.

After three hours of [filtered word] hearing, with no one speaking in support but the applicant's attorney, the Jacksonville Planning Commission followed the recommendation to deny and did so unanimously.

Is there a section or area of Jacksonville that is not considered "family focused or oriented"?
