^^GG, you do realize the Mayor is a Democrat, right?

Most of us are, but what do we do? Recall his butt? Hopefully City Council will do the right thing.

Brown is a Democrat in name only.

Ocklawaha

Don't ask a representative of either party to hand you a dime, the Republican will pull out his pockets to demonstrate they have holes in the bottoms, and the Democrat will reach into someone else's pocket.

Then he poured gas on it.  The Mayor is just as responsible for this mess as previous administrations and the City Council.

The Mayor ran on a platform of not raising taxes, and he is apparently going to stick to that promise even if the city falls apart.

Let's not forget that it was under a Republican mayor the citizens of Jacksonville (Duval County) voted for a tax on themselves for transportation improvements and other things.

Uh Duh

This isn't hard to fix.  Invoke the portion of Duval Dogma which politicians have clearly defined; "A fee is not raising your taxes, a fee is not a tax it is a fee."  The Franchise Fee which is added to your JEA bill.  The Stormwater and Garbage fees are not taxes they are fees.  What we need is an Asphalt fee, which will be based upon how many miles you drive your vehicle each year.  For the City's portion of the new score board at the Stadium why not a scoreboard fee of $2 per ticket for every event at any of the City's venues.  Remember now, we aren't raising taxes, they are just fees.

I think this was true in the movies of the 1970s, Ocklawaha, but do you mean like tax money for bailing out the banks in 2007 or the Savings and Loan crisis involving Bush's son, Neil?

Or the oil subsidies?

We have no heroes and we have no leaders in either political party. One seemingly exists from manufactured crisis, to manufactured crisis, whilst neutering defense and spending like drunken sailors. The other seemingly exists like the three proverbial monkeys, seeing nothing, hearing nothing and DOING NOTHING, whilst promoting defense but otherwise ignoring changing needs and demographics.

I'm painting with a broad brush Stephen, just my take political parties, but I think if anyone is expecting a modern messiah, they're on a fools errand.
