Stage Aurora presents the 6th Annual Aurora Jacksonville Black Arts Festival July 18-21. The four- day festival will feature a variety of entertainment: Theatre, Visual Art, Film, Dance, Children activities, and Food! And will be held at the Stage Aurora Performance Hall inside of Gateway Town Center located at 5188 Norwood Avenue.

Stage Aurora is celebrating 10 years of Mainstage productions with excerpts from some of our most popular shows: DREAMGIRLS, THE WIZ, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, and more in this year’s festival.

Among the additional Festival features are: A Night of Entertainment (Performing Arts Summer Institute summer camp showcase), Oceanus Tae Kwan Do Exhibition under the instruction of Master Joseph E. Morgan, Emanuel Washington’s WE REMEMBER RAINES film documentary, Patric Robinson’s TRIBUTE TO SAM COOKE (featuring popular hits as Sugar Dumplin, Chain Gang, A Change Is Gonna Come and more), Dee Quaranta’s SHOUTS OF TRIUMPH: A Freedom Song (featuring Bee Aware, We Who Believe in Freedom, Show Me The Way, and more), Top Chef Extravaganza, DANCE JACKSONVILLE! featuring some of Jacksonville’s top dance schools and groups, and much more.

The Festival will host a variety of kids activities in The Kids Zone inclusive of face painting, games, etc. Visual art by local artists will be on display and it’s not too late to get involved! Featured authors include Marc Curtis Little and Rodney Hurst. Food of the festival will include but not limited to: chicken tenders, jerk chicken, curry chicken, mac n cheese, steamed veggies, rice and peas.

Sponsoring partners include Terranova, Hardees, Bono’s Barbecue, Da Real Ting, Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
