Bad fire at St Johns Town Center

Looks like the new multi family construction on the west side of the town center, closest to Butler Boulevard is being burnt very badly....they may lose most of it.

On the livestream on ActionNewsJax it looks like they have it extinguished.

I hope all of the workers are OK.. stuck in the burn unit/deceased is no way to spend a Tuesday evening. I can't imagine anything even remotely combustible up there unless they were putting down torch-down roofing on the deck.

220 Riverside has the same problem as this place, wood construction.  It should not be allowed for multi-story, multi-unit residential structures to be built in wood frame.

It's cheap, it's fast to build, but it's dangerous.

I think you may be thinking of the units that are directly east of the town center.  They were built using stick framing.
This development was constructed with cast in place concrete, however they topped off the roof with a wood framed penthouse,.

5000 Town is tunnel-form construction. Very little of the structure is combustible, virtually the entire building is concrete. The penthouse/roof is stick-framed and it appears that everything that could burn, did.

I hope no one was injured. Sad news for a good project.

Great job.  You managed to pick the only two projects in town that aren't stick built.  Both will be concrete.  As has been said, the other multi-family project and Brooklyn park are wood frame.  Not these two.

I saw the ladder truck out of riverside flying east on I-10 taking 95S a liitle after four, it must have been heading down there.
