yeah...its a sad commentary on our city (and America) when far more people attend this event than a community visioning effort

NotNow

More people attend breakfast at McDonalds than attend a "community visioning effort".  And they have to pay for breakfast and the gun show.  Perhaps that says more about the usefulness of a "community visioning effort" than the citizens of our city or country.

And this is why so many things about Jacksonville SUCKS!!!!

In fairness, I would say that most people are reactionary as it pertains to municipal planning. We simply don't believe we have the vision to add useful input for community planning. We tend to think others much smarter than ourselves are working these issues out. It tends to be after the fact that we laypersons offer feedback. Really, most people are trying to find the way to survive and enjoy the world as they find it, whereas few actually seek to drive the world towards that same end.

Unfortunately this allows major land holders and developers a disproportionately large share of the influence in planning matters, not to mention financial advantage.

But I digress. This was not a thread concerning planning input, but another opportunity to demonstrate how stupid anyone who would purchase a firearm must be. Carry on.

Would love to see the American media devote a week of programming to the hundreds of millions of people who did NOT go to a gun show last week. But that would be boring.

Perhaps its just harder to cock up and shoot a bunch of people at denny's with a Community Visioning effort.

Im not sure how useful such a mass shooting would be to the citizens of city or country, but they do seem to also be better attended and more frequent than community visioning efforts.

Yeah because we all know those are the only two options in life, mass murder or attend a community visioning project!

You may address the equivelancy to NotNow ;)

My equivelancy was between breakfast at McDonalds and community planning projects.  StephenDare! seized the opportunity to say "mass shooting!" when he sees the words "gun show".  Or maybe he just wanted the opportunity to say "cock up".   :)

Well when the meeting is held at 9:00am on a Saturday morning, you cannot expect to pack the place out.  I am still on my first cup of coffee at 9:00am on Saturday.  It is the only day of the week I can take my time in the morning and then get some stuff done around the house during the day.
