My name is Michael, and I live on the westside of town in Lakeshore area. I've lived on Forbes St., Donald St., and now in Lakeshore area! I grew up in the Five Points Deli where my Grandmother & Uncle worked for many years. It was sold quite a few years ago and is now known as Gina's Deli. The Five Points I grew up in is very different, and hardly recognizable anymore. Fuel Coffeeshop was the Five and Dime, and Frank's Barbershop was the only place I'd ever get my hair cut. Also, to take it way back, on the corner of Park & Post where Kelly's Gas Station used to sit, I earned a buck or two with helping out from time to time. Used to run around to Edge City, Abernathy, and even the old Ice Cream Shop! Times do change though, but I'll always cherish growing up in such a wonderful place.

I'm a Class of 2000 Robert E. Lee graduate, currently working for Publix Supermarkets. I'm a Frozen Food Clerk, learning the in's and out's of a new department (having worked in nearly all of the departments except Meat & Deli)! Also, I thought I'd mention that I haven't heard any chatter about a Publix opening downtown (just read an article about the possibility of a Publix on this site), however if there were any mention of this, I would gladly come here and post it first!

So I'm glad to be apart of a vibrant community with MetroJacksonville.com! I have been a reader for about a year now, and just recently signed up on the forums! I'll try and post more now that I introduced myself!

Lakeshore is a great often over looked area of Jax.

Not anymore. Lakeshore is scheduled to be the next neighborhood featured on Metro Jacksonville.

Lakeshore has gone downhill over the years, and its not looking to shape up anytime soon. The biggest eyesore around here is San Jaun Avenue. Gas stations close down and become Used Car Lots, and the businesses that do exist have poor parking. Across the bridge is a projects community, and all you ever hear echoing from across the river is gunshots. I'm so ready to move back to Riverside, even if its a small tiny 1 bedroom apartment, I'd gladly take it over this area.

It'll be interesting to see it featured though. Especially the 3 story house on Lakeshore Blvd. (closest to Blanding Blvd.) that was moved on the River so many years ago. Anyone know anything about that house? It was never refinished or anything, still in the same condition it was when it was moved.

Kudo's to catching this one photographer.

Anyone know the story behind this house? Why it was never fully finished? And what year it was moved along the river?
