Hello,
I wanted to know if anyone went and saw the premiere of The Yellow Bellies at the Sun Ray Cinema this past Thursday night? It was made by a local filmmaker Joe Black who has now transplanted to Los Angeles to further his budding film career. I have worked with Joe before and find him to be a very unique and passionate filmmaker.
So, I wanted to know if anyone had some thoughts on the film? I saw the film and believed it was a step forward for Joe as a filmmaker and storyteller. It had the influences of Robert Altman and Woody Allen. The film was presented in black and white which added a whole new layer to the aesthetic of the film and the narrative it was presenting. It offered a much more organic and natural feel to the film and the overall story.
Also, if anyone would like to comment on the Sun Ray Cinema and the environment that was offered for the film premiere I would enjoy talking about that too. I feel the theater does offer a different setting and style for the more "independent" type of films that come through there.
