The US women's soccer team will play Scotland at Everbank field on Sat 9th Feb 2013. Tickets go on sale 12/21. The US team has not lost a game in over a year. We'll be there! http://jacksonville.com/sports/other-sports/2012-12-15/story/jacksonville-host-us-womens-soccer-game

Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

No word on US Soccer Supporters Club ticket presale. A bit odd --  usually we get an email invite for advance ticket sales a few days early, but nothing so far.

There is a Visa ticket pre-sale the day before general sale, but that's all I've heard about.

I have not seen an official number but it's a pretty good crowd at the stadium.

Attendance was 18,656.  Blew away Florida record by more than 6,000 and I believe I heard was record for all of Southeastern US. Great job Jax and good to see Mayor Brown out shaking hands.

and after giving away a good # of tickets, the Giants drew over 4,000 tonight.

Overall I'm guessing that 50,000+ people were downtown today between the 2 games, the car show, 2 races on the riverwalk, and other attractions!

Saw his tweet from Grant Wahl. Wahl is the lead soccer writer for Sports Illustrated.

Quote@GrantWahl Impressed by Jacksonville attendance for US soccer friendlies. USMNT drew 44,438 last year. USWNT draws 18,656 in Jax today.

Question:  Would a bigger high def scoreboard/replay screen enhance the fan experience for the soccer match?
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

and yet Orlando has proven itself for an MLS team. Got to love the mouse.

According to the FTU, this set the record for stand-alone women's soccer in the Southeast and destroyed the record for Florida. The only bigger draws were a double-header with MLS in Orlando and the '96 Olympics. Pretty impressive, we should start seeing more games here now.

Maybe; whether it's worth it is the question.

Orlando has a strong ownership group who's been building to this for a while and are working on a soccer-specific stadium deal. That's what it takes.

There's another opportunity to support soccer in Jacksonville this Friday with a MLS exhibition game.

Looks like Christen Press is quickly becoming the next "face" of the USWNT - she came off of the bench Wednesday night in Nashville & scored yet again - the only US female to ever score three goals in her first two games.  ~14k in Nashville, btw....
