The ponds are necessary where they are because they are going to make the road more "earth supported". Originally the purpose was to eleminate the "bridge"  as much as possible because of structure and maintenance issues. There won't be any under the interstate to put them. Vaults would likely  be expensive.

FDOT heard from the bicycling community loud and clear.  They are working on a few design options and have presented the ideas to the BPAC for comment.

Are the revisions by FDOT submitted to BPAC available to view online?

not sure...but basically the choices are a separated multi-use path on one side or 4' on-road bike lanes on both sides

Not trying to dig up old threads, but came across this clip on youtube tonight.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Great video!  This production is very similar to many of the recent projects that the FDOT has been working on.  Whomever they have hired to put these videos together is really doing a great job.

RS&H, the designer, created the video.  From what I understand, FDOT did not hire RS&H specifically to produce the video.

According to an actionnews piece concerning the pedestrian/bike access issue on the FWB, the FDOT taking that matter very seriously; To quote Councilman Robin Lumb "favorable consideration". If approved, the FWB ped/bike access would be it's own project aside from the Overland project. I'll post the video link when it's available.

^^^It's under "New Bridge Walkway Plan" about 1 minute in. Sorry about the lack of fluidity.

Man that's terrific news. I can't wait to see the plans. As an independently-designed second project, it will be possible to get a lot of good feedback and design something unique and useful. The upcoming meeting should be a good sounding board.

It's not an independently designed project. It would be a part of the Fuller Warren Bridge widening project. Discussion board members here, should give themselves a hand on the back, but continue to push to make sure it happens. This concept may not have materialized if not for you, concerned residents, and their political representatives deciding not to accept status quo. If interested, here's some background information showing the timeline of how this evolved from being told "no" to where things are today.
