Complaint-riddled Southbank Riverwalk still waits for long-promised fix

The signs along the Southbank Riverwalk in downtown Jacksonville ban rollerblading, as if anyone would risk limb and ligament skating on the warped and weather-beaten planks of wood that form the walkway’s rutted surface.
Replacing that 27-year-old Riverwalk with a new and improved version was supposed to happen after the city approved funding in early 2010 during a burst of attention on downtown revitalization. The city said construction would be completed by spring 2013. But it’s officially on hold, still stuck in the design phase.
