^^^Ah, the old subtle 'rolls eyes' face yet again, we agree to disagree Timkin and that's fine. Atleast you went classy with your disagreeing of my statements instead of waiting a month with pent up frustration to chew me out like Chris did. LOL.

I feel like a referee.  I will continue updating the progress and posting on FaceBook.  In the interim I see no point in arguing about something that is beyond too late to do anything to change.  I will eat my KK's and enjoy them no matter what building they are coming out of.
I appy to have them in their original location.

cant we all just be happy they saved the sign.

^^^Boy, that old ass post that I wrote really irked you huh. Do I travel anywhere? Yes. Just last year in 2012 I put a crapload of miles on my car. I REALLY love to visit theme parks for the great coasters and last year I went to...

Holiday World and Indiana Beach in Indiana
Waterville in Gulf Shores, AL
Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, TX
Six Flags over Georgia in Austell, GA
Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm in Cali
Mt Olympus in Wisconsin
Valleyfair! and the Mall of America's Nickelodeon Universe in Minn
Carowinds in Charlotte
Sea World Orlando

Not too mention the tons of other parks that I been to before 2012. I also served in the Army during peace time in KY, COLO, and TX but I still have yet to ever visit out of the USA yet, so if you wanna rag on me about not going anywhere outta the US, then you got me there.

Bottomline that building was an eyesore, and I'm glad that they tore in down. The only halfway 'meh' pseudo-nostalgic thing about it was the green roof. They did the right thing by keeping the sign, and demoing that outdated eyesore of a building. Talking about wondering why do someone read a post, I rather read something that's logical, than typically and unfairly 'Negative Nelly' all the time like many of your posts are. Stay negative my friend.

It didn't irk me, it just struck me that your views belie a lack of experience with any real urban fabric.

Strawman.

I never chewed you out, I just questioned whether you knew what you're talking about. It struck me as clear that you can't possibly have been to London or Berlin and then come back still thinking that prefab foam-clad boxes with a 20 year lifespan, that you have to take a car to get to, are what make great cities great. In the absence of any firsthand experience, it seems you've convinced yourself that what you have is just fine. Except, it isn't. You just don't have a baseline to compare it to, apparently other than the world tour of roller coasters, which sounds fun, but not real informative in this discussion.

I don't mean this as an insult, but seriously, travel. See how things work in places where they do work, and then come back, you'll have a fresh set of eyes. What happens here isn't fine, you just won't know that until you have something to compare it to firsthand.

^^^ First of all that stupid phrase 'strawman' that some MJers have been using recently is dead to me, so please quit using it. All it does is start flamewars, and doesn't have a basis; It's really a silly sophomoric phrase, so stop while you're ahead. Yep, you're right Chris, I don't know crap about urban fabric expect being born in NYC, and spending years in freaking urban sprawled out Brooklyn, which is one of the most architectural significant boroughs in the NYC. So just because I didn't like an (IMO) ugly building that was on Cassat, I don't know crap about urban fabric, so that's the way the world works now; It's really 'backwards' when a person LITERALLY complains about positive progress with the whole Krispy Kreme situation. Hey Chris, while I'm at it, when I go through cities downtowns' on travel (Uptown Charlotte, ATL, etc) and stop for a bite, I can't look, because inspiring urban fabric hurts my eyes, so I blindfold my fucking self; Oh, I can't stand the sight of it!!! ::)

Way to go all damn elitist on me, "Oh, I haven't been to Berlin, London etc". Wow, that's what people like yourself do, exploit a situation when someone is being honest. Hell, most of the architecture in the major Northeastern cities happens to be English anyway. I hope that you know this is the internet age, and info can be looked up, hell or even read in a book, so I'm not totally 100% clueless about well known international cities like London. Stay condescending my friend.

Im sure you learned alot about the world at Six Flags over Georgia, but that doesnt take away any of the validity of Chris's point.

And please watch the language.  Its abominable.

You and Chris are so predictable. Just because I mentioned some examples of travelling LAST YEAR, I supposedly don't know anything other than coasters. Even with me have being CONUS in the military, and just visiting family for gawdwsakes (everything other than the coaster travel which yall love to talk about so much) I been to plenty of places throughout. I do other things to besides staying at a park on a coaster trip, geez. The problem with yalls 'point' is that it doesn't have any 'validity' not unless me not liking an old torn down building equals to being a countryside peasant; That's what this 'conversation' is about right yall? I'm not one of these 'You don't know me' type of people, and I know that all of us talk online aplenty, but I like the way some of you act as if you've personally known me for years with the many "I haven't been anywhere" statements.

Great posting and you are right about the people you have talked about!

^^^Hey, I'm with ya man. No one wants this silliness to end more than me, unfortunately some people can't let things go, like what was on Cassat Ave. This thread was dormant for a minute, but then Mr go go Gator, and his tag team buddy had to double team me for whatever reason.

I-10... I try to get along with everyone and see their points of view. That includes yours.

Living in a city where so many examples of great architecture have been razed to make way for something like a blighted lot, or a foam and 2x4 modern wonder, that may make it 3 decades (if maintained) , I just happen to be sick of seeing everything razed because it is old.  The building that was there was far better in construction quality, than what will replace it.

Big Cheese is correct.  In this case it is too late. No point in continuing to debate on a building that is no longer.  Hey at least the sign was valued enough to save .  For now.  Until someone decides it is time for it to be replaced.

Nothing lasts forever .

And to an extent, I agree with your view, except that I happen to think the building that was razed was EASILY savable and should have been saved.   I know we can't save them all.  My frustration lies in the fact that only a fraction has been spared from demolition...and some of that which remains is endangered.   While the Krispy Kreme location had no significant architectural features, IT VERY DEFINITELY WAS a landmark.

God forbid the company spend a fraction of cost of new-build and save the old place.  Knock it down. Fill our landfills with the debris. Who cares ??

::)    hence the rolling eyes.

Guess it boils down to individual views.  I love old places and think we should value them.  Unfortunately , economics usually come into play, and there is  also the fact that many do not share the view that they should be saved.
