B.O.H.I.C.A. = A military acronym meaning: 'Bend over, here it comes again!'

Smile, you've just been suckered by budget minded, tax slashing, railroad haters!

(*)
Some people would see this as progress, 'a beautiful thing...', but then, some people are fools.

(*) Scrapping Governor Frank Drew's Florida Railroad near Mayo, FL, a rail line which tried hard to reach Jacksonville but was crushed by the Seaboard Air Line.

BOHICA goes hand in hand with another military term of endearment, S.N.A.F.U. For those not savvy in iconic military slang it means Situation Normal, All F...ed Up. I live right along side this beautiful future blight on the landscape adjacent to the future northbound service road. As I mentioned before in a different thread on this site, my neighbors and I will NEVER pay a dime of toll to use this road. Depending on their job location, some will choose Blanding and others (me included) will take Plantation Oaks and outlet at Argyle to Blanding, Collins Rd to 295, or Old Middleburg to 103rd. Most of the bubbas that use this route now can think of better things to spend $1000 plus a year on besides the priveledge of shaving a few minutes off their commute.  A thousand clams buys a whole lotta Natty Light. The FDOT Secreidiot can pack sand. This boondoggle is doomed to fail just like the Greenville, SC Southern Connector (I-185). Read my lips... NO NEW TOLLS!

You have to.

BOHIC just sounds like you're talking to/about a hillbilly.  But.... BOHICA! It rolls off the tongue nicely.

One would think that the "on-again, off-again" planning of this toll road would be some sort of sign to the planners that this may not be best idea.  When other states have private companies competing to build and operate toll roads and this project can't attract one that says a lot.  Would also wonder is it even legal?  I mean it runs right through the heart of Oakleaf ... A residential area.  Isn't that like blocking off access to peoples homes?  Also, Where is this commercial buildout going to come from?  Last I checked, unemployment is still teetering at dangerous levels and the economy is far from recovered.  Why would a company build new warehouses at this economic time when they can lease for a few years for much cheaper anywhere else in town?  I hope when the toll goes up, everyone stays off of it.  Unfortunately, think this might be sign of changing times.  Goodbye FREEways, hello SunPass and Toll-by-Plate.

Who would be on the hook if it is built, and then does not pay for itself with the tolls?  Would it go bankrupt?  Would the state be on the hook for the bill?  I would look closely at the financing on this.   All it will do is open up more for development, which is certainly not needed at this time.  This is really stupid.

Follow the money.  Who stands to benefit financially if this white elephant is built?  The answer to that is the answer to who is pushing to have it built, taxpayers be damned.

So right finehoe! It brings to mind another old military acronym that applies to our transportation planning:

FUBAR!

F@@KED UP BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION!

Oh, it is just a joking expression. SNAFU!

Hilarious.  On the one hand, IBM just told us to "densify" while on the other hand, we are building a toll road to more urban sprawl.  We can't do both.  It's impossible to do both, because more sprawl will cancel out the recommendations from IBM.   Cancel this project.  We need some leadership.

We have a section of overland bridge on an interstate highway that is failing NOW, and instead of replacing this.. More roadways to nowhere being built, such as this one.   Who the hell is in charge here and what are they thinking?

Is it me or are some trying to bankrupt the United States of America?
