Protagonism where the rubber meets the road.  Nobody gets what they want so nobody get a thing.
In todays world, the social buffet tables flow over with causes that are funded by the well to do and
the crumbs are left for the rest of the world.

The President of the United States is about to be introduced by the Sargent of Arms.  I better get my barf bag, a pink one, and watch all our crumbs go away.
'As a sinner I am truly conscious of having often offended my Creator and I beg him to forgive me, but as a Queen and Sovereign, I am aware of no fault or offence for which I have to render account to anyone here below.'   Mary, queen of Scots to her jailer, Sir Amyas Paulet; October 1586

It was painful, but not nearly as much so as I anticipated.  Funny though, I thought it was supposed to be the president's account of the state of our union, and yet, didn't it seem more like he spent 2 minutes actually talking about what is going on right now and what the citizens are mostly concerned with, and the remaining 58 minutes talking about his staff?  It sounded like a CEO addressing his incompetant staff telling them he's tired of going over the same things over and over again.  And what the heck was the deal with Ms. Kansas???  Was she incredibly dull and unpassionate or what?  For a speech that had so many possible avenues of address, she sure missed a lot of them.
"What objectivity and the study of philosophy requires is not an 'open mind,' but an active mind - a mind able and eagerly willing to examine ideas, but to examine them criticially."
