SUMMERTIME IN THE CITY 2012
North Florida’s Premier Annual Breakdancing Competition

-       Summertime In The City is a 2 on 2 team breakdancing contest. Produced by entrepreneur Ian Ranne and hosted bylocal lifestyle clothing lines Nufsed and Bofresco, 2012 will be the 6th Annual STITC event. In the past we have had break-dancers and fans traveling from as far as Atlanta and Miami for the event.

-       This year the event will be held on Saturday, August 25th, 2012 from 3-8pm at the Jacksonville Landing courtyard. Past events have taken place at the Riverside Art Market, The Burrito Gallery, and the 5 Points business district. After party for the event is to be held at Phoenix Taproom at 325 W. Forsyth St., Downtown.

-       Past sponsors of STITC have included Scion, Mellow Mushroom, Red Bull, Burrito Gallery, Burro Bags, andShantytown Pub. The grand prize for the contest is $1,000 cash and is donated by our sponsors in exchange for promotional support, keeping the event free and open to the community.

-       Past STITC events have generated crowds of over 500 people and we expect at least that many attendees this year. Promotions are handled virally by a team of social media mavens, as well astraditional mediums like local print media and hand flyers. The audience consists of a broad variety of culture lovers, from families with children, to college students, to local artists. Everyone enjoys it, and it’s safe to say there is no better visual content for any event then break-dancers.

-       STITC provides a platform for these young men and women to showcase their skills in an environment that will provide hours of entertainment to the general public, while at the same time promotes “B-boy” culture and aesthetics in a public forum.  Events like STITC benefit the neighborhoods they are hosted in (this year being Downtown Jacksonville) by adding new customers, progressive entertainment, and a fresh and youthful vibe to an already beautiful summer Florida day.

How can my business or organization get involved with Summertime In The City 2012?

STITC is a free event open to the general public, however to make it successful fundraising has to take place to pay expenses such as prizes, staffing, and promotions. A variety of packages are available to represent your company or organization at the event in exchange for a in-kind donation to cover these expenses.

All the way from being the title sponsor (Your Company presents…Summertime In The City 2012) to simply adding your logos to the print and social media marketing campaign, we have a way for every budget to make this event mutually beneficial to your cause at a fraction of the cost for similar events. We are also actively seeking a media sponsor to have first access to all coverage related to STITC and have table space set up at the event for merchandising and branding purposes. If you or anyone you know is interested in sponsoring Summertime In The City 2012 or purchasing table space for your brand please contact:

I must say, I am very impressed that this event is still going on. I can remember when this event started back in like 2007.  I just seen the videos of it from when it was Held at the Riverside Art Market. Looked like a pretty good turn out. Was anyone from the Metro Jax crew at this event when it occured? Would nice to see a Metro Jacksonville article on this event if there has not been one. To me what it represents is an international art form. Props to everyone involved in this event. If they do it again for 2013 Metro Jax should define cover it like that Kona Skate event if not for this site, Id never know about that event.
