Looks like good times in Springfield. Great week for the urban core.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Exactly Lake.

This sounds like a wonderful event, similar to the one we proposed a couple of years ago with SAMBA, actually.  But it would have been nice to have a bit more information other than a couple of Facebook invites!  The pictures look amazing, and we would love to help out for the next one!

The next one is scheduled for Saturday, July 28th, 6-10pm.

Much of the cruising the regular folks do is on the down low.  I only know this as I talked to several folks.  They talk and it is word of mouth that gets them to locations.  Not advertising.  The guys and gal that put it together intentionally kept it low key (now that is an oxymoron after seeing the result of all the folks attending!)

Think about it.  If it is a formally planned event, the city will want some sort of fair share participation.  It is not meant to be an organized event, it is "just" a cruise.  No one wants to pay JSO to be there, or pay any sort of permit for gathering.

There were a lot of cars/trucks cruising the streets, restaurants serving people, and folks visiting on Main Street.  No harm, no foul.  Make an event of it, and it is just that.  Money and strings attached.

Related.  This was the best thing to come to Springfield I have ever seen.  Fricken' incredible.  People, people, people everywhere.  It was glorious.

Lake and Stephen, I think we are all just ticked off because a sad case chose to point a bee-bee gun at at JSO officer in a failed attempt of "suicide by cop" thereby causing the Springfield story of the day on TV the next day to be "shooting in Springfield" instead of the cruise.   :-(  You just take a giant step and someone pulls the rug out from under you.

I actually saw a couple of news stories about the cruise on First Coast News prior, and I understand they mentioned it on the 11:00 news Saturday too.

If we'd had any more people out there Saturday, there wouldn't have been room for them!  We would love some hype next time though to keep the momentum going.
