Sustainable Springfield has received a wonderful $17,000 grant from the BCBSF Foundation Embrace Mini Grants Fund at The Miami Foundation.

The grant will pay for our kids program at the kids garden on E 4th to continue this Fall and in Spring 2013.

We will also be able to pay two high school interns $2000 to work as interns at Down to Earth Farm. If you know any high school kids who maybe interested, please let us know.  We will consider applicants from all over Jacksonville - the goal is to stimulate a kid's interest in food production and learn about how small scale organic farming works.  We can be contacted at: SustainableSpringfield@yahoo.com

What a well deserved honor!

My daughter participated in the Kids Garden this spring and it was a fantastic experience.  We are still harvesting tomatoes, eggplant, beans and cucumbers from her plot.

Congratulations Sustainable Springfield!
