Forget the issues we have had in government, roadways, if we don't get this fixed at Mile Point, the City's 2nd largest employer will have issues in growing. Forget all the grandiose ideas, if we cannot get the uneducated or under educated a job on the docks or driving a truck, we can kiss all those tax revenue ideas away.

QuoteFate of plan to reconstruct St. Johns River's shoreline at Mile Point rests with U.S. Senate

The pieces could be falling in place for fixing Mile Point, a navigation hazard in the St. Johns River affecting the passage of large cargo container ships at Jacksonville's port.

But the project still faces a major test in Congress, where the Senate must decide if it will give a green light to the state and JaxPort paying for a $35 million reconstruction of the river's shoreline.

Of course Mayor Brown was there, along with Corrine gets it done, Ander and a bunch of workers in the background who looked like they would rather be working than standing for a photo shoot.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."
