Well, I think I'll just give up hope

The directors at BOA are no longer tied to Charlotte like in the past once Ken Lewis left.

Let's just face it, folks. Jacksonville will never change. There's too many bigots and rednecks in control of this town, that continuing to post on here about what could be and what should be is just pointless. I don't think this site should be taken down. I hope one day that the MJ-ers finally get through Jacksonville leaders. If I was in charge, I would run the bigots and rednecks out of town and do what I could to keep professionals around. Unfortunately, it's the other way around. The bigots and rednecks are doing what they can to run the professionals out of town. It's rather sad. And then they brag about how great Jacksonville is. Then, they get offended when they hear someone complain about how bad it is here and say that if you don't like it, then leave. It's sad. Me, I just don't have what it takes to make it come alive. If it hasn't yet, it's not going to. I got offered to work full-time in Charlotte and I think I'm going to take it. Unlike Jacksonville, Charlotte knows how to run things. Unlike Jacksonville, Charlotte is not full of racists and bigots. Unlike Jacksonville, Charlotte is fairly educated. Unlike Jacksonville, Charlotte is a nice place to live. Anywho, I'm going to try and slowly phase myself out. Until then.....
While I disagree with you on most of your post, I(we) can see you are not happy here. Im sure Charlotte is a great place and with the opportunity for you to move there, I think you are making the right decision.
You will always be welcomed here and, should you change your mind, we look forward to having you back!

And Charlotte has very very visionary and proactive business leadership.  The directors at BOA are very personally tied to Charlotte in many ways.  The mayor is very close to the business community and vice versa and everyone is on the same page (hence why they are able to attract and host the DNC).  Atlanta is the same way and that's how those cities have gotten where they are today and why they are still pulling ahead.

Look at the cities where the elected/appointed officials are not on the same page as the business community (which in these cases has essentially left the "city" for the burbs).  Detroit.  Cleveland.  Memphis.  The business community ultimately determines what happens to a city.

One very important thing in regards to this topic is, that city leaders come and go.  A Jax mayor gets eight years max, and the last year (or two) is largely as a lame duck.

But a heavily involved business community can give continguity across administrations.  That's very beneficial in achieving long-term goals, and helps prevent losing focus every few years.

Brian Moynihan, current CEO, was instrumental in getting LYNX going.  Hugh McColl is surely missed and the questions loom, but many of the directors at BOA are still tied to Charlotte in many ways.  Half those Uptown condos are owned by bankers or are the Charlotte digs of the directors.  If only Jax could benefit from a similar situation...

Watching the same people constantly argue over Charlotte, Atlanta & Jax on these forums is kinda funny. It's like arguing over which turd stinks less.

Until you get to that side and realize that it was not quite as green as you thought.

As Jimmy and others have stated, I see and feel good changes coming to our City.   We did not get to the point we are over night, and we will not get to where we need to be in that fashion , either.

If you must go,  we wish you well.

If everyone said "this city is full of rednecks and bigots" and just left, there would be no one left but rednecks and bigots.

Jacksonville has a lot of problems, and as some pointed out, so do all cities you could possibly think of moving to. Go where you can be happy and prosperous.

As a side note, I haven't encountered any of these rednecks and bigots. Like someone else here has, I found it quite diverse here. Must live in the wrong part of town. I mean this town is an entire county, after all!

If we all gave up hope,  Then the rednecks and bigots win.

Charlotte? As in North Carolina? Does not have bigots and rednecks? Uh...you're kidding, right?

Lynx broke ground before BOA bought FleetBoston where Moynihan came from.  There is very little tying the current board to Charlotte except they spend money when there for meetings.  Most of them live in the Northeast.  That quite different  from a decade ago.  Wouldn't surprise me if the headquarters moved to NYC in five years.  They will still have a large Charlotte presence though.

NAW! The banks are moving AWAY from NYC as fast as they can pack up their employees and ship them south. I say we make them an offer they can't refuse, move them all to JACKSONVILLE.

It was only 33 years ago that the Klan started a shooting war in Greensboro, so certainly by now the entire region is populated with liberal minded, millennial generation, progressives. Uh Huh!
