To the poor dumb vendors who were required to purchase the $750,000 worth of furniture, without a purchase order from the City, shame on you and shame on the process. Apparently the COJ Procurement group did not have enough time ( how long has the Mayor's staff been in their positions?) to take bids and setup a thorough process.

So all Mayor Brown is doing, by boycotting the $750,000 of furniture is hurting local small businesses who are counting on the sales of these items, oh yeah, all the while the Mayor is grandstanding with the Chief Judge. Further, apparently almost all purchases over a certain amount flow through the Mayor now, where as before under Peyton there were others under the Mayor to make these decisions, so while it would appear that the Mayor is more hands-on, it would also appear that he is now micro-managing more decisions.

That's Leadership for you!
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."

So this ugly power struggle will probably escalate.
Never in my life have I seen a man (Judge or not) have such a Grandiose sense of entitlement. >:(

The whole irony over this is the cost: $750,000 (.2% of courthouse costs).  And neither the mayor nor the judge are showing proper decision making skills or a level of maturity fit for their job titles or their experience.

Meanwhile, as reported on another thread that will probably be buried, Friendship Fountain is already breaking and not running (and the Southbank Riverwalk is stilll a HUGE liability waiting to happen).  Jacksonville just has such bad leadership I literally cannot wrap my mind around it.

What.  The.  Hell.

Yep... eventually the $750k will probably come from some place...

Just the word Courthouse gives me a migraine.  What a ridiculous waste of money.
