I started reading Metro Jacksonville while living in Orlando years ago. As a Jacksonville native (and wishing I was back home) this gave me the opportunity to stay connected to my community.

Although I've been an ardent follower for years, I never had the push to create an account and join the conversation until I came home, bought my first home in Jacksonville last year (woo hoo St. Nicholas!) and started working in the core.

Thank you guys for all of the incredible information, history, conversations, and Jacksonville pride!

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Welcome from a fellow St Nicholasian... Nicholasite... Nicholasser...

Well welcome, either way.

Welcome! I lived in St. Nicholas for a year and a half. Wonderful neighborhood.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

My mother and uncle both used to work at a law firm on Atlantic Blvd. across from Mudville grill. Haven't been back to the area in years, except one trip to hit the hardware store. Would love to check out a little more of St. Nicholas, starting with a drive-by. Any "must-see" streets/intersections/strips you'd recommend?

You're so gangsta!

I happen to be partial to the area behind Havana Jax, however we love to ride our bikes down Holmesdale. It's a beautiful street right across from us that dead-ends into the river. There is a little grassy area with a bench and awesome view of the stadium. Also a great place to watch the fireworks after a Suns game!
