I signed it! I loved St. Johns Ferry.

One thing I wish the website didn't show the "Job and Payroll Losses" as the first reason in that list. Lot of people don't care about 33 paying jobs in contrast to over thousands of people unemployed in this time of the economy.

They should emphasize on few reasons that would be beneficial to the public because no one is going to read all that s*** down the webpage and waste their time. Honestly... really.

The only way I'd support saving the ferry is if a glass bottom was installed.

If they can find a private contractor who will take it over and charge what it takes to make a profit, so be it.  I don't see that it has enough value to the community at large to justify tax dollars being spent on it.

Great place for a cruise ship terminal... ;D
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

But I thought the people of Mayport doesn't want a cruise terminal there.

Absolutely TUFSU1, Governor Crist dumped this STATE RESPONSIBILITY on the backs of Jacksonville's citizens and the State should man up and continue the service, cruise port or no port.

The ferry is a bargain... According to some media "it loses," $650,000 dollars per year. That's an interesting number to cry over as JUST THE PAINT on the recent Dames Point Bridge contract cost us $13,000,000. Doing the math this means one could operate the ferry for 20 years for the cost of paint! Oh and guess what? That damn bridge gets more then paint each maintenance cycle.

So how much money does the ferry have to loose before you wont support it Ock?

I-10east

Okay, i'll try to DRILL this in my head even though imma disagree with myself........Highways, cars, buses, suburban developments even if they are successful are BAD!!!! Boats, trains of any types, peoplemovers etc, even if they are an obvious detriment  financially are GOOD!!! If a private company steps in and run the Ferry fine, otherwise why should the city waste money on this thing, just because it's been around for a long time, and it's given the 'tradition' label? It would be doomsday on this site the DOT talked about building a well needed highway in Jax, because I know, trolleys are the answer to  EVERYTHING!!! I have never seen such a bias agenda on a website in my life; That's okay though, atleast yall are consistent.
