In this economy gas stations and big gulps excite us! Seriously though, I'm glad to see 7-eleven is coming back to "the 904" AND they've decided to do it downtown.

I think the location is excellent, they'll pick up all the traffic from i-95 to Arlington.

Now, how is the parkview coming along?:)
Jags season ticket holder.

SPR Nole

A little more life between SPR and DT.  That is a good thing.

The Park View is more like  "The View"  Just the remains of the parking garage with a makeshift railing which is getting torn apart rapidly.

My bet is ( and I hope I eat these words) in a few years the remainder will get demolished and we will  look at a blighted trash-filled lot.  Hope Im wrong.

What about the Park View Pavilion? Is that still going in? Or was the plug pulled on that project?

What you're looking at is their phase one.  People wanted the building gone and now its gone.  It will probably sit like that until some commercial entity agrees to locate at Main & State.

I don't think the owners have any intention of tearing down the parking garage.  It is still viable and adds value to the spot.  If they were going to tear it down they would have done it when they tore down the upper floors as that would have been easier.  At least the decrepit eyesore of a building is gone.

Interesting side note about 7-11. The Japanese franchise owners bought the entire 7-11 corporation several years ago. 7-11 is officially a Japanese company. The cuban sandwiches are enjoyable but I'm still waiting for some quality sushi.

On another note, from wikipedia:

7-Eleven, primarily operating as a franchise, is the world's largest operator, franchisor and licensor of convenience stores, with more than 39,000 outlets,[3] surpassing the previous record-holder McDonald's Corporation in 2007 by approximately 1,000 retail stores.[4]

Don't get me wrong.. It is an improvement to what was there.  I would have favored redevelopment of the entire building but like so many projects , no money and no plan.  So the present remnants , painted is an improvement to the shell of a building.

Downtown Jax, all agog about a 7-11 coming. Pathetic.

Too bad construction can't start sooner...I'm from the Midwest and been in JAX 6 years and was down in Daytona Beach and had my first Slurpee in like 5 years....Soooo good. It'd bee nice to have them open in the summer but, in the fall will work too...
