In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Wish I'd have been able to catch and listen to it.  How'd it go?  Fabulously I'm sure.  I hope there's replay and/or transcript availability!!

I'd like to see the data that shows JTA has the most expensive bus fares in Florida

What data? All you have to do is look at the base fares of each major city (and even some of the medium sized ones like Gainesville) & see if they offer free transfers. If they do (and I believe its already been established that they do) then they're already cheaper just going by that. When you factor in how messy & unreliable JTA's service is, its even worse.

And yes, people DO need transfers. If you're using public transit to actually get to places you need to go, then you're almost certainly going to transfer at least once. Especially with JTA's setup.

Sorry but that's not true...Miami-Dade Transit has charged a $2 base fare since 2009..also note that free transfers are only available to those using a smart card (like the one JTA plans to introduce here)

http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/fares.asp

But it also isn't as simple as you make it out to be...some people do need transfers, others (like me if I'm going from home to work) do not....then there's the fares that seniors and children pay....and then what about daily/weekly/monthly passes.

For example, subway fares in Philadelphia back in 1992 were raised to $1.50...but that was only if paying by cash at the booth...if you used the machines to buy a "transit coin" then it was $2.10 for 2 (or $1.05 each)....daily passes were $4 and monthly passes were $48.

Bottom line....what should be looked at is the average of all fares that passengers pay, not one specific fare.

Now the value one gets for that fare is another question.

Transfers are free for me (I'm 62), but I still avoid them because they are confusing and inconvenient.
