While the refs did blow the Carr call, the Raiders self-destructed after that.  As in life, it is more important how you deal with setbacks, than the setback itself.

After the blown call the Raiders got a 5 yard penalty for illegal challenge thus ensuring they won't get a first down.  Then they called a timeout because they couldn't get a play in, then threw an incomplete pass, then missed not 1 but 2 field goals when they should have punted in the first place.  And if that wasn't bad enough, they totally forgot to cover people on the ensuing Jags drive.

Hell, even the Raiders hail mary pass at the end hit a Raider receiver right in the face mask.  Here comes the ball, better not put my hands up.  Doh!

Completely agree. The field goal was bad....the Jags gave them another chance and they blew it.

Now obviously if the Jags had scored a TD they would have won anyway, but the Jags got the ball at their own 35 versus likely the 25. Plus, with the missed kick the Jags could have tied with a Field Goal (versus needing a TD).

^ Yes, that grievance story pretty much screams Coughlin.

The incomplete pass was pretty egregious too.  Just take a knee or fall down and you run 40 seconds off the clock and make the task of even getting downfield to tie all that much harder for a Jaguar team without a big-armed quarterback.  Given how bad our run defense has been, call a conventional running play and you might break a first down.

Reminded me of when Marrone tried an ill-fated pass play in a similar situation when the Jags were playing the Cardinals in '17.  The extra time left on the clock for the Cardinals allowed them to get positioned for a long game-winning FG.

Probably their last game played in Oakland.

Barring Al Davis's resurrection from the dead, or some unforeseen catastrophe in Carson, CA (LAC) or Denver respectively, that JAX game is definitely the last game in OAK.

Thanks for the heads-up.  That's a good start!

So let me get this straight.  The Jags lose how many games by 17 or more points and Khan says to himself " I'll fire him at the end of the year" and then the Jags win a game and Khan says to himself "I have to fire him immediately". 2 wins in a row and everyone gets the axe?

I take it you missed the grievance story. That is why he was fired now.

I'm pretty sure Khan (and every player in the league) has known that for a long time, unless you mean it becoming public was the reason.

The grievance was filed a long time ago. The decision was this week, followed by the NFLPA's statement immediately after

If Khan knew he should have fired him the second he found out.  Wait until everyone knows is chicken****.  Character is doing the right thing when no one is watching.

The Jags knew they doing the wrong thing the entire time, and did it anyhow.

The NFLPA winning its arbitration and the subsequent letter was a brutal embarrassment. It forced His hand.

Given my affiliation with the NFLPA, I don't have anything to add. However, understanding the grievance process allows for someone to understand how this all played out.

Dude, seriously...  Thank you for the lesson in morality, but maybe you should stick with parking commentary and Oklahoma City updates.

I'm so pleased that the Niners beat the Lambs, and LARs playoff dreams are OVA! Jalen already starting drama, blaming his teammate Taylor Rapp for a blown coverage.  ;D
