Some mildly alarming Coughlin remarks for those hoping that the Jags in 2019 might actually recognize their mistakes and try some intelligent roster construction for a change.

Evidently their roster construction was sound and it was "the nature of the game that got us" and for us to remember that Bortles was "a whistle" away from taking them to the SuperBowl. Is the Caldwell delusion contagious?!? It was during his fund drive so I am hoping he doesn't really think that way.

On a positive note, there hasn't been any new extensions yet.

I wouldn't read too much into those comments. He also uttered the phrase in that interview, "back to the drawing board."

I don't....as long as it  is a "new drawing board".

I think Tom is still using chalk...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Just keep on losing Jags. Get yourself in a position for a great draft pick.

Well after that score, I changed the channel and watched the christmas cookie bakeoff on the FOOD channel, much more competitive.

I watched a total of about 10 minutes of the game.  The Jags have to be the most boring team to watch.  I'm looking for a house cleaning from top to bottom.  The coaching has to be a big part of this mess.  How can decent players lose their focus so quickly?  Bah, Humbug!

Uh yeah. We've had incredibly good luck with high draft picks.

Recognize any of these names:  Blaine Gabbert (10), Justin Blackmon (5), Luke Joeckel (2), Blake Bortles (3), Dante Fowler Jr (3) ?

That in a nutshell is the principal reason for the crap we get to witness on the field.

But I do want to say I'm happy for Shad Khan. He bought a turd ($760,000,000). He still owns a turd. But it has supposedly gone up by $1.2 billion in value. Honestly if he could sell this franchise for that ($2 billion) this off season he should do it.

The individuals that made those decisions won't be making the draft decisions in 2019. Also, those high draft picks yielded high picks in the 2nd (Jack & Cam Robinson) & 3rd rounds (Ngakoue).

I totally agree with the Jag's draft history.  Their free agent history isn't much better.  The team was just going through the motions last night.  This team is rotten.  The coaches don't have a clue.  Sad to say, but Coughlin has bought-in to the rottenness of this inept bunch of bumblers.  We need a new GM, some personnel people with a history of choosing good players, and a complete makeover.  Change the logo, the colors, the uniforms.  Get this funk outta here.  Things need to change.  These players are quitting.  They are too much like our logo-a cartoonish kitty cat with a blue tongue.  We need players like a real Jaguar.  The Jaguars need a total reorganization.

There isn't any 'supposedly' to it, the Jags are worth 2.08 billion dollars. Is the team having a very disappointing year? Absolutely. Would I refer to the Jags organization as a 'turd'? Absolutely not. The reason why the Jags are having a bad year is because we have a QB that isn't a franchise type player, and the team has an ungodly amount of injuries. It's good to see the fans that are in it for the long haul vs the bandwagoners that were only 'fans' because JAX won a playoff game last year.

I was a season ticket holder until this year, mostly because of work conflicts.  The team and the franchise are crap right now. Unbelievable lack of talent on the offense. The defense is a mystery. However they did take advantage of the one winning season in 8 years to gouge ticket buyers, which I thoroughly documented in this thread. That's bullshit IMO. And there will be lots of empty seats the rest of the way if they insist on asking over $120 for a seat in section 411.

Has everyone forgotten we got beat last year (when we were 'great') by the Blaine Gabbert led Arizona Cardinals?

Blake ain't great but his biggest strength, his mobility, was never properly utilized. That's not necessarily his fault. When he did designed run plays they were pretty damn effective.

Making negative comments about a football team or calling them out for making bonehead decisions does not make anyone a bandwagoner.  It might just be that some people care enough about the team to want them to change for the better.  The people of Jacksonville have been supportive of Khan, Weaver, and the Jags.  Some of us refuse to sit back and stay silent when the team that represents this city make the same old miscues year after year.  We deserve better.  There are teams in the NFL that compete for the title year after year and there are teams that just hang around and never go anywhere.  The Jaguars are becoming the latter.  They bet on the running game, released good receivers, bet on an over drafted QB, and lack depth.  They have a terrible record in their draft choices and in free agent signings.  This has been going on for 25 years.  They must change their way of thinking.  The critics of the Jags aren't bandwagoners, they just want to see improvement and change in the team's philosophy.  In the end, when you look back at the 2018 season, who has been correct?  Back in August it was apparent to most people the Jags were going nowhere.  2018 wasn't a fluke, 2017 was.

2018 is a fluke and the Jags will be much improved with a Teddy Bridgewater type of QB.

It did seem like when he rolled out of the pocket (a play we stopped calling for whatever reason) he seemed more accurate, I'll give you that much. Bortles is EXTREMELY inconsistent though; Bottomline however you look at it, a QB has to throw the ball down field accurately and consistently as possible, and he isn't the guy. From having a game vs NE where he looked like he's a world beater ready for the playoffs, to the crap games vs KC, DAL, HOU, and PHI. We gave him all of the chances in the world, and his era is over.

If we didn't have so many injuries, I would be more upset. No mentions of basically our entire offensive line, multiple TEs, and our top wideout being injured? Shit happens, what can I say?
