The Jacksonville Jaguars

OK, I don't give two craps about the nfl but I caught the last two minutes of the Jags game, just now.  If I were a Jags fan, I would have some serious questions about who is calling their plays on both sides of the ball.  First, you allow Arizona to keep their only time out by throwing an incomplete pass on 2nd down from about 50 yards out of FG range?  Then, on defense with Arizona having NO timeouts left, you allow two straight passes to the sideline with no defenders anywhere near the receiver, allowing them to get into FG range?  Good grief, most HS coaches in Florida wouldn't make those three errors.

I think you can give some credit to Arizona on that last drive...great throw..great catch...great kick.

The Jags handling of their last offensive possession was beyond stupid and falls 100% on Marrone but quite frankly NFL coaches and how they handle clock management is pretty much a running joke. We are used to it outside of Foxboro.

Overall I think the Jags coaches have done a great job this year so I am not going to be very critical.

Wash has by far the best defense in the NFL and Hacket is working with dog shit on the offensive side of the ball.

We are on to the Colts.

Credit to the Cardinals, agreed.  However, wouldn't you line your defense up in more or less a "U-shape" with three guys on each sideline, keeping everything inside of them, not even allowing a QB to risk that throw?  They were playing them in a traditional defense and got beat to the same spot twice in a row, the same spot that even a guy who doesn't pay attention (me) knows they are going to throw it.

I am aware that this is their best year (by far) in quite some time, so you are probably correct about giving the coaches a pass.  Things like this just drive me bonkers, though; clock-management is just as important to winning (or not losing) games as anything.

Yes it was horrendous and unusual for this coaching staff.  If anything that's why they would get a pass, cause they don't do that normally. If it happens again then it becomes a problem.

I didn't expect this team to go undefeated the rest of the season so the sky isn't falling yet. If the team, including or perhaps especially the defense, takes a lesson from this game, then this could be a good turning point in the season. We haven't played well the last few weeks and we need to take it up a notch heading into the home stretch/postseason.

Unbelievably, the Packers lost to the Steelers in almost exactly the same way last night.  Got the ball back with a minute left in regulation, tied at 28, attempting to run out the clock, and their running back ran out of bounds.  Steelers got the ball back in time to hit two passes and kick a 50+ field goal.

So much for my elusive dreams of a first-round bye.

Listening to T Boselli and crew this morning, there is clearly something wrong with Fournette. He is not 100 %.

This loss is on the coaches.

Inexcusable to pass on second down at the end of the game backed up that far.

And then allowing them two sideline passes when they have zero timeouts left.

And then failing to use your own timeout before the kick.

It looked like it. I wonder if that is true, why not keep him out until his offensive linemen are healthy too, rather than risk further injury?

Bortles made some great plays, but not at the very end. I'm coming around to liking him. I have said in almost all my posts he needs to run more, and yesterday he excelled in that aspect.  Maybe the Jags can bring in a All Pro QB coach who can help BB do it at the end of the game. Make those plays when we need it. He does not throw perfectly but we are a run first team now.  If he can work with the staff on play calling and execution at the end (the play calls at the end were poor, not his fault) he might be able to get us deep into the playoffs.  The final INT was terrible and really a poor decision, which I bet he admits. It was also a poor play in that situation. Either a run into the middle of the field or throw into the end zone.   The play they called was well covered would have come up short anyway.

Keep seeing more and more rumors of Eli Manning to Jaguars. I think it would make sense with TC being here and all.

Just like all the talk about Nassib coming in here to take Blake's job because of ties with both Coughlin (Giants) and Marrone (Syracuse).

How'd that work out?

If you think those two situations are remotely comparable, your views on Blake begin to make sense.

Comparable in the sense that media is just wanting to connect dots whether they make sense or not.

I mean, I get it - there's no comparison between Bortles', Nassib's and Manning's resume.

I would prefer to keep BB and get him the best possible QB Coach, draft a youngster who can learn, than bring in Eli, who is well past the mid point of his career.

If BB can improve his "situational play"  (i.e. stop the late game miscues) he can work in this offense. And he should be able to improve somewhat each year, correct? He is still young.

Just checked. Eli is 36 years old. One good collision from the end of his career.

I realize all logic points to an easy Jags win on Sunday but when I think of the master mind on the other sideline, I get a little worried.

LOL!
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Very different but equally hilarious, last week's fake punt attempt by WKU against FIU.
