The Jacksonville Jaguars

Got an email from a Seahawks fan who said Gus didnt look very happy and positive in Detroit yesterday. In fact his yell fest with the ref over a supposed fair catch call and the lip he gave SDerrick Marks over his offside was very un Gus like.

I think he knows his future already.

But I do like how the Oline did on run blocking. Besides Ivory's killer fumble, they did block better overall.

This team's biggest problem is they missed with Capt. Pick Six. In the NFL you can mask a lot of issues with solid and consistent QB play. The Jaguars do not that luxury so every other mistake is intensified. You end up constantly playing from behind which does the defense and the running game no favors. Sure there are other issues that are glaring... lack of discipline, poor special teams, no consistent pass rush, lack of a home run hitter on offense, but in the end this is the NFL and it starts and ends with the QB and by extension the HC and GM.
And so it goes

I loved the pick for Blake when it occurred and I'm still supportive. I really am. However . . . my goodness, the pick-six throws are killing us. You simply can't throw that amount and remain a starter unless you're throwing beaucoup touchdowns and winning some damn games. Neither instance is occurring for us.

Ron Jaworkski says he's not being coached hard enough (he has that general complaint for most of the NFL these days, too) and I think this is correct. But when I watch other teams, even fair to middling teams, they seem to get people in space in their passing game far more often than we do. That makes me doubt our scheme.

We need a serious offensive makeover. We might need a new QB but I don't think so.

I seriously think the Jags are cursed and it's contagious.  I wore a Jags visor yesterday, was -1 through the first 7 holes and then got a case of the shanks that lasted through 5 holes.  But by then any semblance of coming back was lost and my confidence was shot.

My point is that the fear is real now.  I've never had to deal with that before and I don't when or if it'll creep up this week if I even play.

Amplify that by 1,000 and I think we might have a slight understanding of what some of these players are dealing with.

As bad as Bortles has been (and he's been terrible), I would like to see him at least one year with a competent coaching staff.

I think there is talent on offense. Robinson, Hurns, Lee are a good trio. But something is missing in the scheme.

I wouldn't mind seeing the team hire a offensive minded head coach, sign and draft early a couple offensive linemen and draft a running back like Dalvin Cook.

What is sad to me is the poor performance is happening throughout the team.  Awful QB play, Poz is a stud against the run, but is awful against the pass, too many penalties, turnovers, and during the next game pay careful attention to the special team players on kickoffs and punts.  The first two Jags special teamers will speed down the field and blow past the player catching the ball-EVERY TIME.  I'd love to see a special teamer that arrives at the ball first make a tackle.  The trouble with the Jaguars is the basics...they basically are bad in all aspects, and I blame the coaching.

They lost again but at least no turn overs from BB5 or any other offensive player,  that's the only positive I see plus it was a competitive game, So no chance in an 8-8 record. Gus has to be fired at the end of the season.

Vintage Gus Bradley on display this afternoon.

You know your QB is bad when the only graphic they show on 3rd down is how many 3rd down interceptions he has thrown.

At least they finally figured out how to let Blake play more like Tyrod Taylor -- that, alone, could have won some games this season because Blake gets in a much better flow for him. A statue of a QB, he is not. Pure dropback, he is not. Make him move; it clearly settles him down.

Such a wasted year.

Biggest difference between Jags and Bills was LeSean McCoy. He's a bona fide NFL Superstar. We don't have that player on our roster, yet.

He took a basic running play 75 yards, and we have not had a homerun threat all season. If we can bring in a NFL Superstar on offense next year that will help. We've missed a couple in free agency that might have helped.

Agree Blake should be running in the first quarter. Opens up a lot of other things for the offense.

5 weeks until Gus Bradley is fired.

I have to admit, Dalvin Cook (so glad his punk azz has finally used up his damn college eligibility!) would be a *very* interesting addition to this offense.

There's your home run guy at running back. We have an elite WR in Allen Robinson (and Marqise, IMHO), and allowing Blake to be more Tyrod-like makes him much more effective and much more dangerous.

Rattler, there's no cream puffs like UF, BC and WF in the NFL ....well maybe excluding the Jags... ;). Those defensive guys are a lot faster and hit a hell of a lot harder at the next level. The Jags have too many holes to fill before someone like Cook, comes in off the street and starts putting up Ezekiel Elliott type numbers.  It's a totally different ball game than what Cook has had to face when compared to the guys with the hot orange pants from Gainesville.
