Ross was beyond awful. He'll probably end up being one of the bigger FA busts in team history.

I'm glad to see Ross go for performance reasons, though he seemed like a very nice guy and his wife was terrific with the fans.  The moment of fans and players watching her Olympic race in the stadium last year at least creates one nice memory of Ross' time with the Jaguars.

Excluding Cecil Shorts' 80 yard TD at Indy, you could argue that was the highlight of our entire season.

All kidding aside, I was in the stadium with my son when it happened. Cool moment.

Aw, man - what about the reality show?

Not that I disagree with many decisions thus far; for a team that has indicated that they'll be building through the draft & not be heavily involved in free agency, they seem to be cutting deep - how many picks do we get again?

We get 6 or 7 picks I believe, not to mention college free agency and the undrafted rookies. After all that takes place, there will be plenty of players to choose from. I believe we start off with a 90 man roster the beginning of the offseason. They are gonna dig in the trenches for young talent. But to their credit, Ross was terrible and Landry was good at times, and other times he was just okay. But we have had one free agent visit so far. I believe his name was Chris Canty from the Gaints

^We can also get more picks by trading down.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I was wondering about that. I get confused with the draft stuff. So that means if we trade the #2 spot, we get an extra pick?

You get whatever another team is willing to give - it's all negotiable.  Depending on how badly a team wants to be at that spot, you might agree to an additional pick (or picks) later in the draft - or even next year's draft.  Some teams have given away their entire draft to get the #1 spot.  Doesn't look like that will happen this year, however.

Oh yeah, we get a draft pick in 2014 for Mike Thomas dont we? humm... I think we should trade our #2 spot this year, so we can have about 8 picks, then 2014  we would also have 8 pick because of the Mike Thomas trade. We need to hoard as many pciks as possiable.  ;D

Yes, that's right.  #5 in 2014 for Thomas.

Maybe I look at things differently (which most times I think I do compared to everyone else on here) But why does Poz get all this unnecessary flak. That he's "overpaid" and just an "ok".I agree that his play declined some in 2012, but hell the entire team declined. What I say is Poz trying to do it all by himself, and thats not realistic. If you played next to Kyles Bosworth you would have some issues also. Whether anyone wants to hear it or, things would have been different if Smith could have played this season. The linebackers even admit when Smith is in there, they can do more because they know Smith is going to get the job done and play his role 100%. It kinda reminds me for those years we played EVERYTHING on Mathis, but the entire secondary was struggling and he needed help. In 2011, Cox was playing at a high level, then all of a sudden Mathis looked better.  No one shines on a 2-14 team. There were struggles across the board. And I dont get into the being overpaid thing. If you wanna be honest, just about everyone on our team is severaly overpaid. No fault of theirs though thats all on Gene Smith. Anyways, Ive ssid my piece. Go ahead and bring out pitch forks and tell me Im an idiot.  ;D

the Redskins gave up a ton to move up to #2 last year and get RGIII....too bad there's nobody like that on the board this year

I like Poz a lot, but I think the general notion behind the flak he gets (which is, of course, often inartfully phrased and dramaticaly overstated, but the notion's not meritless) is that he's much more effective as a run defender than in coverage.  As the league becomes more and more pass-oriented, his best skill set is becoming less relevant and the weaker part of his game becomes more of a liability.  That, and while he is a good player, we overpaid to get him, as with Landry.  If the team thinks it can find a $3 million player to perform as well as Poz can for $7 million, I would understand parting ways with him.  I think that has to be part of the logic behind letting go of Landry.  None of this means either of these guys aren't good players.  They are.  And I wholeheartedly agree with you that a healthy Smith (and Session) would have made things look much different.

The thing that is hilarious to me, is everyone was saying " Just blow the whole thing up" Now, fans have switched gears and now they are saying "what are they doing? why are they releasing so many people?" All of a sudden, everyone does not think the 2012 we not that bad. LOL That shows who bipolar sports fans are and are talking out of their ass half the time. The people that have been released and/or not resigned were pretty much a non-factor last season. I say bring in some young guys who wanna complete and are hungry to prove themselves and some cheap veterans to fill some voids.

I was thinking, We never started a rebuild for real. Gene preached building through the draft, but yet played in free agency and spent a ton of money. We never took a step back and really looked at ourselves in the mirror and seen how fucked up we were, we just tried to find a quick fix to win. We have been a long way from winning ever since 2008. Bad drafting and being over active in free agency set us back time and time again. So I can appreciate the new regime's approach.
