I will give Gene one more season, but that is it. The excuses have to stop if this team is as bad or barely better than last year.

I'd rather have Robinson than Garcon.  I'd especially rather not pay nearly $10 million a year for Garcon for the purpose of puffing up and saying we "made a splash" on day one.  Does anyone else see the lunacy in suggesting that we emulate the Redskins, those titans of player personnel strategy?

Wacca I think my issue is that we look like were going to be depending on the draft, which is something we dont do well at WR. Too sit on our hands and risk drafting another Cecil Shorts is bothersome to me. That doesnt bother you at all? Im normally the level headed, positive Jags fan, but this thing is bothering bad right.

Even Khan said our drafting has been a  huge problem.

Care to source that or are you just making stuff up?  Because if Khan had said or thought that, then Gene Smith would have been shown the door.  Instead, he got a 3 year extension - approved by Khan, so obviously, HIS drafting hasn't been a problem.

Weaver gave Gene extension before he gave up the team. Never heard Khan "approved" it. If thats the case, did he "approve" firing Del Rio? I dont think Khan had anything to do with that.

please...the contract extension and firing of Del Rio happened at the same time that the team was sold to Khan...and you don't think Wayne and Shad discussed those issues?

Does anyone know for a fact they were?

I believe Khan was asked about that...and said that Weaver consulted him

Well we have a deal in place for Robinson.. Now its just the point if hes going to take it, or keep shopping around.

Robinson has a contract in hand, Manningham and one or two other credible starting and contributing receivers are still at large.  I don't think we are depending on the draft at WR (although I suspect we'll draft one), and I don't understand why everyone seems to think that simply because we didn't back up a Brinks truck at Pierre Garcon's house.  The only elite receiver on the market was probably Jackson, and it seems like most of the disappointment at WR seems to stem from the fact that they didn't sign some guys they never got a chance to sign (Bowe, Colston, etc.) because they never hit the market.  Why it's Gene Smith's fault for not supernaturally destroying teams' window to sign their own free agents, I've no idea.

Who here seriously would have been happy if we gave $10 million a year to Pierre Garcon and his cavalcade of drops?  What if we tied up that boatload of money in a mediocre guy or two like him and didn't have anything left to spend on a quality player at a critical position this year or sometime in the future?  That's how you become the Redskins or Cowboys, throwing money at mediocrity so you can say "Look!  We made a SPLASH!"  Didn't we learn this lesson with Jerry Porter?

I have little doubt Robinson will cost less than Garcon and more importantly, be more reliable.

Also, we're in day two of free agency.  It's not a one-day sale, and history holds that the smart shoppers are not the ones who go berserk on day one.  A lot of Jag fans are acting like the ballgame is over.

I think Im just parnoid! LOL If I knew being a true Jags fan was this stressful I would have reconsidered my decisions two years ago LMAO I think we will be fine. The way things are shaping up now for the draft, Blackmon just may be on the board for us to snag up during the draft.

We could pair him back up with Steve Smith   ;D

Just some names that I would expect to start hearing:  Eddie Royal, Early Doucet, Anthony Gonzalez, Chaz Schilens, Greg Camarillo (thought he was a TE)

Don't forget we do have 'guys'.  Robiskie was a high 2nd round pick.  Shorts is only entering year 2.  Chastin West a UDFA that showed flashes.  Taylor Price was a late 3rd rounder entering his 3rd year that never made it past special teams for the Patriots.

Keep your chin up, little fellow.  It's not as bad as you're making it out to be.

I kind of like Doucet.

I also think our WRs are going to look better just from better quality coaching.  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think Shorts has a lot of potential.

I think he does too. I wrote off his performance last year due to poor coaching. But that almost impossiable catch he made during the Chargers MNF game gave me hope for him. That was not an easy catch. I think he will improve drastically under Jerry Sullivan.

Robinson's ours, and we re-signed C.J. Mosley.

Rynjny

all we need now is to sign Mario William, I know he's close to signing with Buffalo but he hasn't signed yet so there's still hope..

Ajax

Tania Ganguli from the T-U just tweeted that the Jags signed Chad Henne to a 2-year deal.
