QuoteI'd imagine Jaguar might not have as much interest in putting its name on a stadium because I believe Jaguars sell in much lower volumes than some of the other luxury cars like Mercedes.

But it would make perfect sense as it would be proportionate to the attendance...not funny.  I shouldn't have said that..... ;)

If we're going to draw that analogy, I guess the Bucs or Bengals could have gone with Yugo as a corporate sponsor this year.

Yeah they are not big seller's. It could be because they NEVER change the body of their cars. The 2011 is one of the first models Ive seen that I actually like. But that's whole nother subject.

please, they just changed their entire line-up

Also, Mercedes-Benz just put their name on the Superdome....but they're the only car brand I can think of that has done that (Ford Field is named after a whole company after all)

Up until recent years, all the cars look the same (to me anyways).

Quotekeep in mind they filed a lawsuit against the team over the original helmet logo design....which forced the team to modify it.

- And that's how the teal tongue was spawned....On a side note - since we don't have much in terms of "throwbacks", I'd love to see the Jags wear gold helmets (like the helmets presented to the Weavers).  I know that Tony Kahn was fishing for ideas via Twitter a few weeks back (not sure what his role will ultimately be within the organization, but he's certainly the #2 fan at this juncture)...

Ford is local to the Detroit area (and William Clay Ford owns the Lions). Most stadium naming rights are bought by local companies, for obvious reasons. The Superdome is one that's particularly high profile.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I'd enjoy seeing a gold helmet too.  I'm a fan of gold in uniforms in general - the real kind like the Jags have, not the yellow that the Redskins and Steelers call "gold."  I miss the gold cat on the sleeve and the gold trim that was on the old uniform, even though I like the new one.

Of course, the overwhelming response to Tony Khan's tweet seems to have been that people badly want a black alternate jersey or uniform again.  I liked our black jerseys and have one, so I wouldn't object, though without the cat and gold trim on there, there's not all that much to distinguish our black jersey from a Raiders or Steelers jersey.

Oldsmobile had the naming rights to a minor league baseball park in Michigan - in fact, it continued to be named for Olds after Olds had ceased producing cars, probably not the finest hour in GM advertising.

Where can I find that tweet?  I'm not on twitter, will you provide a link please?

I'm not on Twitter (just read all the reactions subsequent to the tweet), so I'm sorry to say I'm no help there :(

For whatever it's worth, I heard from a pretty reliable source that Khan wants to bring the Superbowl back to Jacksonville within the next 5-10 years.

I think its a good idea. I think maybe the 10 year mark. We've made alot of progress since 2004, but no enough to host the game again anytime soon. I wonder where we are in regard to hotel rooms? I believe we were 10,000 rooms short the last time and there were complaints about quality hotels. We have definitely have more quality hotels than we did back in 2004. River City marketplace wasn't even there back then and the town had just started up. Downtown is the issue in my opinion. The Hilton Head/Double Tree is the only new hotel in the core. I think the additions of the Brooklyn Park Amphitheater and the Small Amphitheatre proposed for Friendship fountain could add on to SB venues for concerts, etc. Also, we now have Art walk, The Arts Market and a host of others things going on that we did not have back then. Heck we could even move the Jazz Festival to SB weekend that year. Not to mention there is actually some night life downtown now.

Just thought every one would like to read what our friend  from Profootball Talk said about our Jacksonville Jaguars Mr. Mike Florio.

Here is the Story.http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/21/kevin-demoff-faces-the-music-from-st-louis-fans/

Still, our friends in St. Louis shouldn’t abandon hope, yet.  The team’s tactic will bring the situation to a head.  And if the outcome becomes that the Rams will be moving out in three years, the folks in the Show Me State can hope that the Jaguars will be able to show three straight years of financial losses in Jacksonville, which would allow new owner Shad Khan to break the lease at Everbank Field and move the team to St. Louis.  ::) >:( :P

I actually thought the same thing they stated in this article. Its more than odd that the Rams owner will not committ to the city, and then committ to London games for 3 years, when they NFL states they want teams to committ for 5 years? The Rams lease is up in exactly three years. But honestly, St Louis is a baseball town. They care nothing about the Rams. They are in bottom of attendance every year, literally. The Jags attendance is better than theirs. I hate to say, but the rams looks like they might be out there soon. The Jags are staying, The Chargers say they arent going to LA, and the Vikings are killing are begging for help to build a stadium. So that leaves the Rams....
