But San Diego is a more attractive city than Jacksonville no doubt.

With all respect DD, that's your opinion. What in the hell does 'more attractive' means anyway? There are all kinda of walks of life out there who like different things. Not EVERYONE think that NYC is the most attractive city because of it's culture, nightlife etc; Many people hate things about NY because of the awful traffic, overcrowdness etc. 'This metro is far superior to this one' like it's a straight fact is all just 'MJ-esque' typical bullshit talk that they got from the Nat'l media.

Um okay? You kinda got me lost on this one. The only the thing I said was is San Deigo is an attractive city. Im sorry?  :-X

Regardless of his personal issues, he has the right to speak his mind, and its the truth! Del Rio was full of crap. End of story.

Of course he has the right to speak his mind. But to say he retired because of Del Rio is laughable.

My bad Duval, sorry if I was a lil' harsh. I'm just very ticked off because of the overwhelming resurrection of the  stupid 'Jags to LA' talk just because will have a new owner in 2012; I don't think that it's gonna happen, regardless of what the local and national media say. The local media seems very paranoid, and the Nat'l media are a bunch of damn vultures just waiting for the LA to take the Jags from us. I'm not paranoid with the talk, but just extremely tired of it.

I wasnt saying that it was an attractive city for the Jags to relocate to! Never that.! The teams staying here. Im not worried about that. It would be an extreme hassle for anyone to try and wiggle their way out of that lease. And when you look at the history of relocation, 95% of the time it was because stadium issues that were not resolved. It would be odd and extreme for someone to attempt to buy the Jags out of there lease. There is so much legal Jargen in our lease it makes it almost impossiable without facing extreme and expense rammifications. Jags are here to stay! Dont worry I-10!

Yeah he should have left that part out. Him not liking Del Rio probably was only 5% of his decision to retire.

I'm hearing a frustration from the fans of Jacksonville and I am loving it.

Here it is:  Fuck Peter King.  Fuck Tony Kornheiser.  Fuck Mike Florio.  Fuck ESPN.  Fuck Mike & Mike.  Fuck all of the 'mail-it-in', 140-characters or less media hacks that call themselves journalists but have forgotten what it really takes to research a fact.

I'm posting a letter, much like Wacca's, that I read on BCC.  He hits all the points we talk about here and shares the same contempt that we do for the mis-representation of our city, our team, our residents and even our new owner who hasn't even made it to J'ville yet.

Spread the word, Jacksonville's passion for football is about to quell the nation's unwarranted claim that we don't deserve a team.  Mr. Kahn you have the Con.....

10 comments Email PrintAdmin .Here's something I wrote to Peter King after yet another back-handed shot at Jacksonville as it relates to the Jaguars and the new owner's commitment to it. Crap is getting old from these hacks.

I doubt you'll answer or even read this and that's fine. Simple question. Why do you and other members of the national media take every opportunity to bash the Jaguars, specifically Jacksonville? Do you get some sort of satisfaction by trashing Jacksonville and hoping you all are right? Bitter about your experience here during Super Bowl 39 and can’t let it go? (Can't wait to see how they enjoy Indianapolis and the weather there. Big difference between Final 4s and the Super Bowl. It's like camping out at the Daytona 500 vs. attending the Monaco Grand Prix)

Are blackouts solely a Jacksonville problem? Not since 2009. Meanwhile, a fact many of you and your fellow scribes conveniently overlook is that Oakland has had over 65% of their home games blacked out since 1995, fittingly, Jacksonville's first season in the NFL. Tampa has had most of their home games blacked out since 2010. Stephen Ross in Miami purchases a healthy number of seats for $.32 on the dollar, even resorting to Tim Tebow Day when Miami played the Broncos earlier this year. The Vikings nearly had their first blackout in 14 years this week (against the Denver Tebows of all teams) and other teams have had them over the past few years, such as San Diego, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Detroit, Arizona, and Kansas City. The attendance numbers are out there for everyone to see, and it turns out Jacksonville is not that bad. But it takes research and who needs research when you have low hanging fruit and an easy story? How come Cincinnati can get away with the excuse of “Mike Brown has ruined this franchise for so long that we've earned the right to be skeptical and not show up” or Tampa can ride the high unemployment excuse when Jacksonville has a similar unemployment number? We’re not allowed to use the excuses, but the fact of the matter is, this team has been mediocre since 2000 when we lost the AFC Championship to Tennessee. Perhaps we were spoiled by success too early, and everything from the owner down grew stale. Can you name another team that has a ticket gauge on its official website? Perhaps we’re victims of our transparency in this regard. Surely you remember the early 1980s when Jacksonville was the flavor of the day for relocation. I recall a handful of teams that flirted with Jacksonville in order to get better stadiums or concession splits. (Of coruse most Jacksonville residents here since the 80s recall Irsay and the helicopter at the Gator Bowl)

I also noticed your 33% of seats tarped comment. Surely you realize that even with the tarps, Everbank Field has more seats than Chicago, Indy, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cincy, Minnesota and a few others. We rank 21st of 32 teams, Peter. Expanded to college capacity, the stadium seats 84K. Pretty big stadium for a small market, huh? Once again, research. 9,703 seats are tarped by the way.

Am I naïve to not get that everything has a price? No. No matter who Weaver sold the team to, even if it was a relative, you all would still be on the Jaguars to LA or London or whatever city loses their team first train. It’s tiring. If we stick up for our team, we’re labeled thin-skinned rednecks. If we do not reply, then our apathy matches the perceived low attendance numbers. Apparently you and others forgot the 90s here when this was a tough ticket. And of course in the wake of Khan purchasing the team, does the national media report the groundswell of support by way of t shirts, fans giving away fake moustaches, and a very active Twitter following? No. Of course not. They focus on the ignorant racist calling into local radio and on the message boards with abhorrent comments about Mr. Khan’s nationality and perceived religion. Sickening by the way. Of course these folks don’t realize that without Mr. Khan, the bumpers on their pickup trucks would have rusted away long ago.

Bottom line, I’m part of the 2nd generation of Jaguars fans. Our numbers are growing. In the span of 1 year, Jacksonville has elected its first African American mayor, has its first African American interim head coach, and now has a Pakistani American owner. Please take a minute to appreciate the magnitude of this paradigm shift going on in Northeast Florida. And yet, members of the national media want to throw cold water on it all.

I’ve always respected your viewpoints and am a fan of your work, but you’re resorting to lazy journalism as if you work for ESPN. What do you all have to gain? If LA wanted football they’d have built better stadia to keep it there instead of playing in a baseball park as the Rams did when they moved from the Coliseum to Anaheim.

My bad Duval, sorry if I was a lil' harsh. Y'know...that's one of my pet peeves about the local media.  Sometimes I get the impression that they have  both inferiority and Chicken Little complexes at the same time.  And when those two combine, it just comes off as pathetic.  When I was watching Weaver's press conference on FOX30, they put a tagline on the screen that said "JAGS COULD LEAVE JACKSONVILLE" when he said Khan didn't make any promise in writing to keep the team here. I found the tagline to be tacky, and it pissed me off.  So to reinforce a feeling I already had of watching a bush league news outfit, that confirmed it for me.  I have no use for the local news channels.  Us against the world indeed...I say bring it.

If you're going to the game, by the way they're supposedly giving out free mustaches...

Its funny that you mention this. I have not been home, and Im not now actually. But I was going to send an email to dan hicken and every sports person of our local media about this. they are quick to post negative stories about the Jags. But they  have not mentioned that we have sold more tickets than both other NFL teams in Florida this season. They still keep reporting that we are "struggling to sell tickets" and " avoding yet another black out". Im with everyone else. Fuck the media. I have already said, the next person, in town or out of town that trys to come for the Jags Im going off. its time for us as a city to stand up for ourselves. The media bullies us because we have let them since day one and Im sick of it! ( do i sound angrey much? LOL)

I know that you weren't Duval, my disdain for the media was unrelated to your comment. I'm totally with yall on this crusade, f*ck the media! The only time that they mention Jax is with this 'supposed moving of the Jags'. I always had hated Warren Sapp, he might've been a great player, but he sucks as a person; To say that that he is two-faced is an understatement. Notice how PFT show that stupid 'sea of empty teal seats' at Everbank',everytime the 'move' talk comes into play, but one problem, no game isn't even taking place; Hell, you can lie and say that Lambeau don't sell out by showing a buncha empty bleachers with no game taking place, talk about propaganda!

I think we all knew when we got the team that we would have to overachieve as fans until our local market grew into one that could easily support the team.  Recent economic problems have delayed that growth.  It will come.

I try to stay positive until the last second, but this game is over. This was probably the worst I've seen them. Defense was off tonight and offense was just... horrible. Gabbert continues to show no improvement and Lewis still hasn't done anything. I don't know what the defense was thinking, but they did not look like the 4th best defense. We need some serious help. We're about to give the Chargers their first win since October 9. Oh yeah, and the FG attempt that had the messed up snap... WHAT WAS THAT?! Simple mistakes like that shouldn't be happening. Thank you MJD for actually trying to win and thank you Cecil Shorts for getting that touchdown. The rest of team... Just a mess. I'm disappointed in the entire team.

So the Jags now have a worse record than the Dolphins.  Unbelievable.
